Where do we begin? As any rescue, we are always struggling for finances. More so than usual lately though.  For those of you who aren't familiar with us, we have a rescue facility with some awesome custom kennel rooms that give the dogs a sense of living in homes. We decided to bite the bullet and purchase the kennels with a payment plan because the need here in Kern county was THAT great. Yes, we've received some financial help so far, and that has helped.. but we're far from our goal and we need your help!

Running a small non-profit animal rescue is not an easy task, especially when you are 100% volunteer and EVERYTHING relies on those few good committed volunteers to do all of the events, fundraising and obviously, daily caretaking.  You have the regular weekly bills of feeding, utilities, gas for transporting the animals to and from vet appointments and adoption events, among other things.  Then you get your emergencies, which are bound to happen dealing with sickly and abused animals (and in our case, for the last three months, we've had a black cloud hanging over our heads with one emergency after another) and you just can't get back out of that hole...

We've had a pretty rough couple months, and it just became too much to bear, and by Saturday night (7/11), we needed to step back and re-evaluate things...
There's no easy way to say this, but our rescue we've worked so hard for is going to go under. We need help. We're at a loss. we've hit a major rough patch and multiple animals have needed emergency care/surgery. And we can't cover the cost. We rely solely on donations and fundraising. And as of late both of them have dropped off dramatically. We try so hard not to hound everyone for money and funding all the time, but it's just gone beyond anything we've ever had to deal with before... one disaster after another. 7 emergency visits in 10 days... THOUSANDS of dollars unexpectedly GONE. We literally have been beating our heads against a wall. A rescue is not all the glamour is made up to be. Yes, we give dogs a second chance to live, but in order for them to get to that point we (us & doggies) sometimes have a long road ahead of us. We're begging, pleading, praying we get some form of financial help. The funds that we have received from our grants have gone directly to our kennels (which still aren't all the way paid for- $7,000 still owed). There are things behind the scenes that we as rescuers struggle with on a daily basis. This is one of the main ones- finances. Unfortunately, it determines everything- which dogs to save and which ones we can't. It's horrible to make those calls every day. Our hearts are in the right place. Our wallets are paying for it though. This past week alone- our Great Dane litter pup -Mr. Tesla. Yes we have received help by getting him wheels and walking harness', but the actual medical costs of X-rays and multiple vet visits went unnoticed, mainly because we tried no to beg. Tesla's mother Gardunia got fixed last week and since she had been bred way too any times before we rescued her, her surgery didn't go well. While she was under her uturus literally turned to mush, and she crashed out on the table. The staff at Critters without Litters and did everything they could to keep her alive. And she struggled the following 3 days before she was able to stand up and get back to normal. Then almost a week after surgery, her site split open and she needed her site reopened and restitched. One of the Pyrenees mix puppies accidentally got bit by a mama dog getting too close to her puppy. (He's fine now but that was a $500 emergency trip) things like this add up... an emergency amputation, a bleed out, a near drowning... everything you could possibly imagine that could go wrong with rescue did, this week alone.
We always try to be prepared for an emergency but with a trip to the Emergency vet 7-10 times in the last two weeks, all of which were completely unexpected, and expensive visits. And all different animals needing different care, we hoped to raise some funding with our pleas for help, but have yet receive anything that will make a dent in our outrageous vet bills.

Food alone for all the animals is $300+ a week!

We are just at our wits end and unfortunately don't know how much longer were going to be able to maintain our rescue if we don't get help. If you find it in your hearts to help us financially, we would sincerely appreciate it.

But even if you can't donate, we always need volunteer help on a daily basis- 7 days a week.  Or if you have fundraising ideas that won't cost money up front (for obvious reasons) we're willing to receive help by any means nessecary.
We want to continue to help make a difference and rescue as many dogs as we can we just don't see how that is possible at this time. We can only keep going with our supporters help- financially as well as physically... so please, help us get out of this giant hole of debt we've accumulated over the last few weeks, so that we can continue saving more animals in the future.

Thanks for listening.

Id like to end on somewhat of a good note -since doing rescue involves caring for things, like a doctor (for example)
My dad just recited the physicians serenity prayer to me:
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference" - Reinhold Niebuhr

Please feel free to check out our website or Facebook page so that you can get a better sense of who we are. Thank you guys.

***Note: this is a combined total of what our vet bills are and some on what we owe on the kennels.
