Sponsor my trip to 2012 Big Android BBQ

The Big Android BBQ is the world's preeminent mobile technology conference for Android developers and enthusiasts alike. This year the Big Android BBQ is moving into the state-of-the-art Hurst Convention Center in the Dallas Fort Worth area of Texas.

As a contributing author (or staff writer) for FreeYourAndroid.com, I'm essentially an unpaid blogger. I do it because I love to write and I have a passion for Android and technology.

FreeYourAndroid is still a relatively new site which launched in November of 2011 by recognized xda developer Nathan P. Russel (aka nprussell of VillanRom fame) and has grown slowly but steadily with the help of other technology analysts, writers and Android enthusiasts.

Why I'm asking for sponsorship
First and foremost I love Android and I love BBQ. The only thing that would make it better would to be including some awesome micro-brew beer, but that's not the reason I'm asking for help (ok, that's not the ONLY reason). The reason I'm asking is because I'd like to actually cover the event and create a full feature write up on FreeYourAndroid about the event covering the whole 3-days including behind-the-scenes news and maybe some interviews with willing guest speakers - that is if we raise enough to include the Jelly Bean package.

What's in it for you?
Aside from all the awesome coverage I hope to get, I'll give everyone who donates $20 or more early access to any photos, videos or interviews before they are published on the site - we're talking raw, unedited coverage.

Anyone who donates $50 or more will be entered to win some of the swag I bring back. I'll have to determine how many winners their will be based on the amount of swag I bring back.

Above that, you tell me! Would you like me to wear your company logo/shirt/hat during the event? Let's make it happen! It's limited to the number of days I'm attending and the number of sponsors interested in advertising on me while I'm there.

So how is the money going to be allocated?
There are 3 major considerations that need to be paid for (maybe 4, but I'm hoping I can car pool with someone once I'm there).

1. Airfare from Boston to Dallas/Fortworth
Currently I'm seeing rates for as low as $269 for an economy class round trip ticket, but as the date gets closer, the fare will go up. I'm rounding up all my estimates to account for unexpected increases and the like.

2. Hotel accommodations
Nothing crazy here either as I won't be spending a whole lot of time in the Hotel. If I'm not sleeping or writing about the event, I will be at the convention. The Big Android BBQ has worked with local hotels to lock in rates for convention goers. The Hyatt Place would be the most convenient to the Hurst Conference Center and would hopefully eliminate my need for a rental car. Right now rates are $79 a night, but rooms need to be booked by Sept. 19, 2012 to ensure availability and pricing.

3. Ticket to the 2012 Big Android BBQ
Last but not least and equally as important as the other 2 items. In a perfect world to get the absolute best coverage of everything at the Big Android BBQ, securing a Jelly Bean Package ticket would give me full access to everything the event has to offer including behind the scenes stuff that only this level of ticket provides. $250 is the base price of for this ticket but if we come up short on funds, we can still attend with the Froyo package which will get me in, but won't provide anything that others aren't seeing and will severely limit the coverage I can make.

Beyond that, I've rounded up a little bit to account for incidentals such as a cab ride, or if need be a rental car (plus the GoFundMe fees). Anything left, I'll use to buy more swag which will make even more prizes to give away to YOU! My awesome sponsor!
