A wonderful family vacation to Myrtle Beach for the fourth of July, quickly turned into tragedy. What was suposed to be fun at the beach and firework celebration, was nothing but.
While the whole family was playing in the ocean, throwing footballs and jumping waves, Lew had quickly disappeared. After his wife, Mary, frantically searched for him, it was too late. Lew was found about 5 blocks down. Life guards worked on him, as crowds gathered, until paramedics could arrive. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but his life was already lost.
Lew served 18 years in the Air Force. Such a short time away from his retirement. He and his family traveled the world together. They helped anyone and everyone they could. Lew was a role model for so many. Everyone looked up to him. His country and his family were his entire life.
Now, tragically, his wife Mary, is a single mom of four children. Every day, ever hour, every second is a struggle. Their oldest, (17) is supposed to be attending college in the fall. Lew was so incredibly proud, that his oldest son was doing great things with his future. They also have a 13 year old daughter, a 12 year old son, and an 11 year old son.
