'Youth in Excellence are a London based community interest company who offer personal development services, initiatives and training to young people, families, schools and communities through a range of projects and initiatives to help them build confidence, raise their self-esteem and provide them with life-skills, experience and opportunities.' www.youthinexcellence.com

We need to raise £1100 for our event on 20th November 2015 which is Universal Children's Day.

This free to attend youth arts and performance based event will be held at the community space Pop Brixton in Lambeth.

Earlier in the year we ran a competition for 11 to 19-year-olds earlier on the theme of identity and the best entries were selected to be featured in our first ever book entitled ‘Identity – The Anthology’ which we self-published in June.

With the theme of identity continuing, this will be the focus for November’s event. During the day, the winning poems will be read and the 3 finalists of the competition will receive a prize. There will be music and drama performances, guest speakers, games, giveaways and the launch of the 2016 poetry competition.

We will use the funds raised for:

Refreshments for the 120 attendees who will mainly be children and young people from schools, youth organisations and alternative provisions.

Giveaways and competition prizes.

Framed certificate, award  and copy of the book for the 3 competition winners.

Goody bags for all the attendees.

When we received the poetry entries we were amazed by how passionate the young writers were about so many different subjects such as - mental health; race & immigration; being shy; special needs; having ginger hair; body image and not feeling special.

They vocalised their fears, concerns, sadness and happiness about day to day issues that affected their lives.

Publishing their words was a great honour, as it allowed us to share the true feelings of some of our youth in the UK.

Our event for Universal Children's Day will be a celebration of young people's talents and achievements and to thank them for their individuality and for being them.

Please help us to make the 20th November an extra special day for them by supporting our Go Fund Me campaign with whatever amount you are able to give.

Literally, every pound and penny counts!

Thank you in advance,
