Kendrick's Broken Jaw Surgery

On July 1, 2015, Kennaii was dropped off at a veterinarian’s office in the Coachella Valley and instructed to be euthanized by the owner. He is only 18 weeks old and has already had to deal with more pain than any animal should have to endure. Kennaii had previously been treated for being hit with a hammer and this time around was delivered to the veterinarian’s office with a broken jaw from a dog fight.

Pug Rescue of San Diego County was notified on July 1st of Kennaii’s situation and by July 2nd, Kennaii was at a local veterinary office in San Diego and undergoing surgery to repair his broken jaw. Because of his age, the vet performed a unique surgery that will require Kennaii’s jaw to be in a “surgical muzzle.” Because of this he will be on a liquid diet and crate rest for weeks.

The initial cost of the surgery will be over $1,500 with the potential for more costs in the future. Pug Rescue of San Diego County’s generous donors have already donated hundreds of dollars for Kennaii’s care, but with the potential for thousands more in costs, a fund-raising goal of $3,000 has been set. Any excess funds will be used to treat and care for other pugs in need.
