Restarting my life... Step One: Go Back to School!!!
Hello! My name is James J Lattanzi (Jay). I am from Morgantown, WV. I was born here but I have been here since 1993.
I need your help doing a 180 degree turn around and start over.
I have lost a lot over the past 3 years. Starting with the loss of over seven family member (5 in one year) including my wife, mother, grandfather, and a couple other aunts and uncles.
You would think that would've been enough, but I lost my work family as well! Sort of out of the blue I was notified that the family owned business (open since 1948 and was nearing its third generation of ownership) was closing its doors. I really planned on retiring from this job. This did have a silver lining of sorts it gave me the opportunity to care for my ailing family members. But none the less it was near impossible to find employment that was even close to meeting my financial needs (lost the other half of my household income in about six months).
My own health medically, other than fighting big bouts with depression I was diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic. This landed me in the hospital more than once before I was diagnosed, treated, and finally have my glucose under control!
As my fruitless job search continued (incredibly hard without a degree or recognized certificates.) my finances slowly were sliding away. First my credit cards. Then I lost my vehicle. Finally the biggest blow I lost my home to foreclosure. Without the help of my family and couple of friends I would have probably slipped into the gutter or worse.
I finally saw the path... I needed to get my degree from WVU. So, I pushed and was readmitted for the fall 2015 semester! After talking to the financial aid department I was shocked to discover there is next to no aid for someone like myself;
A Non-veteran
Not a recent high school graduate
No GPA to apply for scholarships
A 40 year old widower without any kids
There maybe something next year b/c the deadlines haven't passed, I hope to have a good GPA, but, that doesn't help me with the things like books, food, and misc. student expenditures. This is based on my “needs” not “wants”!!!
I NEED HELP TO SUCCED!!!
