Jessica has been released from the hospital and is home. The doctor said that her brain injury should heal in 6 months to a year. She is currently participating in outpatient therapy. Don't forget about the the fundraiser at Midtown Grill on Sunday September 23. The motorcycle poker run starts at 8 am registration at Bonney Lake Tavern. The ride will tenatively end around noon at the Midtown Grill. There will be live music, BBQ, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, bracelets and a silent auction. BBQ IS $10, Bracelets are $5. The proceeds from this event will go to the rehabilitation fund. Please come out and have a good time. I also have it on good authority that the princess herself will make an appearance.
Update: Jess is making amazing progress. Her day is filled with physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. She received a smaller trache yesterday. She is able to walk up stairs, go outside, and recently she was visited by her bestest friend Bentley, her chocolate lab. I want to personally thank all of you for your support and thoughts. I also want to let you know that she is updating her own Facebook and answers most posts. She doesn't have a phone so she is using her parents phone. Send her a message.
UPDATE: Jessica recently received a smaller trache tube. She is still fighting like a champ. She walked to the restroom yesterday with some assistance. She has a small dry erase board now that she writes down her thoughts and any requests that she may have. There are bracelets available to raise money for Jess they are pink and read " strength for Jessica" they can be purchased from mid town bar and grill in bonney lake for $5. Midtown Grill is also having a motorcycle ride and auction visit their facebook page for details. Thank you to all for your prayers and donations. Progress is being made but their is still a long road ahead.
Update: all I can say right now is WOW...... I am truly amazed at the friends and family of Jess. I also want to thank everyone that made the car wash a huge success. Jessica is doing good. She is sitting and standing with help from the therapist. She went nearly 3 hours today without her ventilator, her breaths were kind of shallow but definitely progress. I also learned today that she definitely hasn't lost her sense of humor. Again thank you to everyone that made the car wash a success and I will keep you updated on the poker run and fundraiser at Midtown Grill.
UPDATE: Today she is progressing. She is still being provided oxygen but the tubes have been removed. She is working with the physical therapist daily and is following more and more commands. She will be back in no time she can also still operate an Iphone, and write her name on the Ipad. You guys raised over $2100 at the Skate for Jessica fund raiser. Dont forget tomorrow there is a car wash in Puyallup. She isnt sleeping hardly at all so they are still not allowing any visitors and they are trying to be as quiet as possible.
UPDATE: Well since the news has been so so in the last few updates, how about some positive news? It seems that little princess Jessica is starting to grace us with her presence. She has been awake since about 1 am this morning and the staff moved her to a chair because she kept trying to get out of the bed. She is not fully awake and she can not speak; however, she is following commands. She can move her teddy bear from one hand to the other, she can match the number of fingers that the therapist holds up, and she can move her limbs. Make no mistake she is not out of the woods by far, but this is a HUGE improvement over the previous days. She is still on a ventilator and SOME pain meds. This is quite a feat for the "Skate for Jessica" event taking place tonight. Remember the event today. Visit www.tiffanysskateinn.com/schedule.html
for details. There is a $5 entry fee, a silent auction, as well as a bake sale. All proceeds will go to the Jessica Anderson Rehabilitation Fund. Also there will be a carwash on Saturday August 18th at the Dairy Queen on 152nd and Meridian in Puyallup. Remember Jessica is still in ICU and is not allowed to have visitors. I will post as soon as she is able to.Thank you to everyone for your donations and support.
UPDATE: This morning the doctors put the trache in. She is still sedated from the procedure and resting. Her heart rate is toggling around 70. The doctors feel that this trache will allow her to be less restless and hopefully be able to wake up soon. Later today they will be putting in a feeding tube. Her temp. has dropped and is around 99*. Thank you to all that have supported Jessica thus far. She still has a long road ahead of her and I am sure she will be very greatful. Dont forget about the "Skate for Jessica" event coming up on Wednesday the 15th. Also the Carwash on the 18th. All moneys raised will go to help Jess. I have been asked by several people about bringing Bentley to the hospital, I am unsure about that due to her being in ICU. I will forward that request to the proper people and see what we can do. Again thank you all and I will continue to post updates as they come available.
UPDATE: Jess is still having trouble with her fever, it is spiking at around 103. The doctors swititched her meds for her over active brain and we are waiting to see if the new meds help. She will get a Tracheotomy tomrrow morning at 8. This will take the ventilator out of her mouth and place it in her neck. They think that this will allow her to calm down when she is woken up. A feeding tube will be placed directly into her stomach on Monday. The medical staff believe that Jess needs more rest. There is still no word on waking her up again. Thank you to everyone that has donatated and sent your love and support we greatly appreciate it. Please remember the Skate for Jessica coming up on Wednesday August 15th from 6-830 pm at Tiffanys Skate Inn in Puyallup. There will also be a car wash on August 18th. Email me for details on wither of these events. Thank you to everyone for all your help.
UPDATE: Sorry it has been a couple days since the last update. There has not been a lot of change but today they started Jess on BETA blockers to try and control her heart rate. The doctor says that Jessicas brain is working overtime, and that maybe causing the restlessness. Over the past couple days she has been running a fever, sometimes spiking to 103. She is still having problems passing her breathing tests, however; the nurse is saying that the chest xrays are starting to look better. As many of you may have seen, Jessicas story is on KING5 news and you can log onto their website to see it at www.king5.com/news.
Jessica is currently resting somewhat comfortably. A huge thank you goes out to all of you that have donated and have kept Jessica in your thoughts and prayers.
Update: Ok well I guess Jess is on her own schedule and decide to postpone her awakening. This morning she became really aggitated as the sedation wore off. The doctors are trying some new things to try and stop this aggitation, but they do not want to try to wake her up in the aggitated state. The pneumonia continues to give her problems breathind and they are attacking that with antibiotics. They are going to back off of sedation slowly and ease her into the waking up process. We truely appreciate each and every comment and donation. I have not had the time to thank each one of you guys individually, but please know that the family greatly appreciates EVERYTHING. Please continue to support Jessica and share the link in the upper right hand corner on your facebook page Jessica can use all the support she can get. Thank You all and I hope to give better news in the coming days.
As you can see the goal amount is dynamic and is constantly changing as more info comes available and bills become due. We appreciate the donations and support I will post an update as it becomes available.
Update: today Jess was again fighting like a champ. They removed most of the fluid from her lungs. They also switched her sedation medicine to one that will hopefully relax her when they try to wake her up tomorrow, or should I say WHEN she wakes up tomorrow. Keep the thought and prayers coming they are working. I am positive thinking that tomorrow will be the day. Please send your thoughts and prayers to agree. Again we would like to thank everyone for your generous donations we are so thankful for everything and I know Jess will be too.
Update: Today and last night has been fairly uneventful. Which in my opinion is just like good news. She had a very restful night and the staff has decided to let her rest today as well. They may try to wake her up tomorrow. Right now she hasa slight temp. and her white blood cell count is starting to lower. Thank you to everyone that has dontated and sent your love and support. Keep it up we all appreciate the help.
Update: After yesterday's not so great news, I guess Jess decided to suprise us all...... She woke up last nite for a short time and was put through a series of tests. She was asked to blink and squeeze hands and move toes and she did it. One of the most important things she was asked was to hold up 2 fingers. SHE DID IT!!! She is still on the breathing tube and is now asleep again but that is awesome news compared to yesterday. If you ask me I think Jess is just provign the doctors wrong cause everytime they say something she comes back and makes them look stupid. Keep up the support and prayers obviously it is working. WE appreciate all the donations and cant wait till Jess is up and moving around.
Update: Today we received news that Jessicas MRI showed a brain shearing injury. Now this means that there is a possibilty that she MAY have some brain damage. She is young and her body heals well. This is just a possibilty right now and NOT definitive. She also has failed her breathing test (which is where they see how well shee breathes without the machine) We still need you to keep Jessica in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all so much for your support and donations they are appreciated. Stay Strong Jess
Update: Jessica went for an MRI last night to ensure that her brain swelling is not increasing. The results came back normal. She is starting to move around while the meds start to wear off. She is being given more medication as I type. We would like to thank all of you for your prayers, comments, and donations. It is greatly appreciated and very helpful.
Jessica is still sedated and has a breathing tube. They did a catscan and the brain is improving however she is not waking up. The doctors believe this is because she is tired so they are going to continue to try and wake her up.
Update for Jessica they are doing tests on her today to see if she can breath on her own. We are currrently awaiting the results of this test. Thank you for your support and help.
Jessica is doing better today they have removed the cranial pressure monitor and are slowly backing off on the sedation. She has a small amount of fluid in her lungs and is being treated for it.
As most of you know Jessica is in the hospital and is going to need alot of rehabilitation as well as time off of work. She is my sister in law and I am doing this on behalf of her family, which have incrued a lot of expenses so far and the worst is yet to come. If you can help out please donate. Any amount will help out and this is a secure website that is trusted. ALL money will go to the bills from the hospital as well as Jessica's bills as she will be off work until she heals. If you have any questions please send me or any of her family a message on Facebook and we can explain. Thank you very much in advance. I will also be posting updates on this site as well.
