Lake Havasu Dredging Deeper

HELP US KEEP LAKE TO RIVER ACCESS OPEN FOR ALL BOATERS  – “DREDGE-DEEPER”

In December 2011 the Lake Havasu Marine Association, after a nearly year-long permitting process, initiated a half-mile dredging project to create a new deep-water channel so boaters could safely navigate between the lake and the upper river through Topock Gorge.  Thousands of recreational boaters have used this channel for the past 3-1/2 years, expanding their recreational boating pleasure.  Today, although still navigable, the natural silting process of the river has reduced the depth of the channel at the southern half.  In order to restore the channel to its intended depth, a tune-up dredging will commence on Monday, July 27, lasting approximately ten days (dredging will be done at night to minimize inconvenience to boaters).

“Dredge-Deeper” will again be one-hundred percent privately funded with monies raised by the Lake Havasu Marine Association.  As you might imagine, this is not an inexpensive undertaking, but a necessary one to insure continued access, safety and enjoyment for all Lake Havasu boaters.

If you’re a boater and would like to participate in this fund raising effort to keep our waterway open, a monetary donation would be greatly appreciated.  For those wishing to make a $100 donation or more , the Lake Havasu Marine Association will send you a brand new 40 minute DVD containing the latest information about Lake Havasu, its sustainability, water quality and what is being done to insure its preservation for future generations.

The Lake Havasu Marine Association is a 501-C3 non-profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible.  All funds raised for “Dredge-Deeper” will be used exclusively for that project.  We would also like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the following people who so generously donated to fund the original deep-water channel construction.  Without their support, the 2011 dredging project would not have been possible.  Next time you pass through the channel, please remember to say a silent thank you:  Craig Reynolds, John Hughes, Art & Maureen Tate, Barbara Cross, Chip Romer, Chet Hitt, Gary Smith, Jon Roth, Wayne & Larry Minor.

Thank you for helping keep Lake Havasu the number one boating destination in the Southwest. For more information regarding the Lake Havasu Marine Association, please visit http://www.lhmarineassn.com
