Lindsay and Mark's work in Zambia

As many of you know, we have been given the amazing opportunity by Young Africa to set up the newest Young Africa youth training centre in Lusaka, Zambia.

Our plan is to provide the following programme to youth in low-income areas in Lusaka:
a)      Training in a vocational skill, e.g. Information and Communications Technology (ICT);
b)      Life Skills Training; and
c)      Entrepreneurship Training.


Our 2017 project objective is set to train 160 youths in Bauleni, Lusaka Central constituency, a low income, high density area of Lusaka, with the potential to increase to 1,120 in all seven constituency of Lusaka. Each young person taking the course will also be granted an International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) profile and will complete the four base modules and tests. ICDL is a qualification which will give these youths internationally recognised skills in computer essentials, online essentials, word processing and spreadsheets As part of the Young Africa Integral Youth Empowerment Programme the students will also receive Life Skills Education and Entrepreneurship Education.

We have taken on this role in a semi-voluntary capacity, and are working month-to-month to ensure all our costs are covered. While we have good contacts with donors in Europe and Zambia, it is taking longer than expected to access these funds so we need help from friends and family to keep the lights on and get the ICT training going in early May.

This fund will go towards the administrative costs of training 80 youths in the Bauleni compound in computers along with life skills and entrepreneurship. We have the unique opportunity to provide these kids with the International Computer Drivers Licence (ICDL - Africa's equivalent to ECDL) - a qualification that is recognised all over the world.
