Our names are Yara Ensminger and Pari Baker. We are two junior rowers from the Don Rowing Club in Mississauga.
We have worked hard for the past two years towards our goal and all our efforts have paid off. Following a series of selection regattas Rowing Canada has nominated us for the Junior National Women’s Quad. We are proud and excited to represent Canada at the Junior World Rowing Championships in Rio de Janeiro from August 5th – 9th, where we will compete with the best junior rowers in the world.
To do so successfully we will spend our summer at training camps. We will also travel to certain rowing events. Before we finally depart to Rio our crew will participate for a last test at the Row Ontario Championships.
Rowing Canada does support this once-in-a-lifetime adventure in various ways, including coaches, facilities and organization. However, each of us will contribute CAD 4200 to flights, board and accommodation during the competition on the Olympic Regatta course in Rio. In addition, we have expenses for our training camp in Regina.
We ask you to support our efforts. We aim to raise CAD 8400 for the two of us (And we promise to split evenly). Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated! If you cannot donate, please share this information on social media or email it to your friends and family.
All supporters will be invited to join us for a farewell party at the Don Rowing Club before we leave to Rio. We will take pictures with all our supporters and friends. If you are adventurous enough, we may also take you out on the water for a short spin.
