Maxx & Family

This is my son, Maxx.  He is 8 yrs old.  He had a shunt failure on June 8, 2015 & had surgery June 9, 2015 to replace the shunt.  During surgery the skin on his head was so paper thin that it literally fell apart, so his neurosurgeon had to call the plastic surgeon in to help him reconstruct it. 

Last Wed., June, 24, 2015, I took Maxx to the UW ER because he had been running a fever off & on all day.  His highest temp was 104.2 degrees Fahrenehit.  We finally got admitted to a room @ 3AM on Thurs., June 25th.  Tests were done & showed that Maxx had a shunt infection.  He had surgery that night & 4 hours later I drove home.

Sat., June 27th Maxx's cultures from his shunt tap finally grew out.  It grew out a bacteria called MRSA.  Now Maxx is on high doses of heavy duty antibiotics to get rid of the infection.

While this is all happening, I'm trying to stay up @ American Family Children's Hospital (AFCH) with Maxx as much as I can, but I have 3 girls @ home that need me as well.  After 2 weeks of leave, I finally went back to work on Friday.  Steve, Maxx's dad, has been taking off work early & losing pay, so he can pick up our girls from daycare before they close.

Financially this has already taken a toll on us & will continue to do so.  Maxx will be in the hospital for @ least 2-3 weeks this time around.  I'm going back & forth, so I can work, spend some time with my girls, & going up to be with my son.

All I'm asking is for a little bit of help.  Gas money to go back & forth.  Money for food when I go up there.  Plus, @ home we need money for groceries, so Steve & I can feed the rest of our family.
