Nels Edwin Pearson, a husband of 41years, readily shared the story of how he met Marilyn. He was thankful for their love, and the blessing of 2 children, and 7 grandchildren.
Nels and Marilyn had medical challenges that led to a a continuum of healthcare and surgeries to maintain their health. Despite the setbacks, they continued their generous giving spirit to their church, family, friends, employers, and volunteer organizations.
While an EGW employee, he had a reputation to readily lend a helping hand, and to live by core values that all respected. People speak of Nels, as honest, loyal, and dedicated regardless of the time required to complete the event or job. As a public service volunteer, he contributed to making the community a better and safer place for all.
Nels, a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi, Grapevine, supported Marilyn’s involvement with the women’s CRHP Retreat. He joined the Knights of Columbus, and because of his unique unmistakably deep strong voice, he became a Lector and Choir Member.

Pearson was the 2014 volunteer of the year for the town’s citizen patrol and a past president of the Summit Club.
Wess Griffin, Flower Mound Police captain, worked with Pearson closely.
“He was just an incredible person,” Griffin said.
Pearson also served as the secretary for the Flower Mound Police Association alumni and as chairman of the police department’s open house. He umpired a recent baseball game between the town’s police and fire departments.
Griffin shared a story he heard that during a time of unemployment, Pearson continued to volunteer for Flower Mound.
“That really is who Nels was to me,” Griffin said. “He put service above self. He’s going to be sorely missed.”
“He was just a special person,” Griffin said.

Unexpectedly, at age 64, our dear Nels, passed away June 25, 2015 from a heart attack while at home. Marilyn found her life’s partner gone.
Please turn your compassionate eyes on his family. In memory, of Nels Pearson, any donation, small or large will ease some of their financial burden of unpaid medical expenses. Typically, most individuals do not think financial hardship could happen to them or their loved ones but many times more than not, it becomes a reality.
