Bruce Sherman is a 36 year old father, husband, brother, son and so much more to so many people. Bruce was born and raised in Thurman and has recently been diagnosed with Grade 4 multi-focal glioblastoma.
In short, Bruce has brain cancer and the prognosis is grim.
This is a fast moving and very aggressive cancer from which recovery is unlikely. Treatments are costly and insurance simply will not cover portions of it, nor will it cover any of the expense of travelling back and forth to Albany for the daily treatments that are required. Bruce was employed by Warren County Department of Corrections, security officer for G4S, security for Ace Hardware prior to accepting the position at Finch Paper that he currently holds, which will officially terminate on August 22nd. Bruce is no longer able to work and I am
disabled due to an injury I received as an ER nurse at Glens Falls Hospital.
Our family needs your help. Bruce is the father of 2 young children and he has been faced with the prospect of having a very limited amount of time with them. In addition to needing help in meeting the costs associated with his illness and the financial demands of our young family, Bruce has hoped for memories he would like to make with our family and experiences that he has always hoped to have. At the top of the list is a trip to Disney World with his family. Bruce has also always wanted to skydive and to participate in the Richard Pettey NASCAR Experience. One of his biggest dreams is to build/redo a black and hot pink jeep with our daughter for her first vehicle.
Our families will be organizing fundraisers and creating opportunities for you to help Bruce and our family. Please help fulfill his bucket list and give him the memories he's dreamed of. No one plans for life to be so short. We now live one day, one moment, one memory at a time.
