Saving Tinker Bell

Donation protected
Tinker Bell is a dwarf mini foal about the size of a small dog.  At two weeks old, she was surrendered to us due to the scope of her disabilities and need for continuous care. One would think euthanasia would be most merciful. But to anyone who meets her, they see her stubborn will-to-live, sassy spunk, and angelic nature. Death is not on her agenda.

Tinker Bell cannot stand without temporary splints and bandages. If she is fortunate enough to place herself in a position to nurse, she struggles with the weight of her head numerous times before latching on. She has ligament laxity and two severely deformed hind legs.  A foal’s skin is tissue-paper thin so any rubbing from splints/bandages causes blisters and sores that can lead to sepsis.  Being born with dwarfism can present will a multitude of health issues throughout her lifespan.

Is her conformation perfect?…No. Is her health perfect?…No. But with all her imperfections comes perfection. We want to give her a chance to live and, in the process, hope the lives she touches are better for knowing that one doesn’t have to be perfect to be wanted and loved. We are a group of volunteers that want to grant this little creature her one wish…a chance to dance on this earth.
