Nicaragua Clean Water Project

This past May, a group of our friends went on a trip to Nicaragua to explore, learn and give back to the local community through art and education.


What we found was more than a need of school supplies and repairs, but a need for the most important resource, clean water.


We met Stu, a local and an engineer with over 12 years of experience building clean water systems and wells for rural areas of Central America.


Stu is working to help fix the dried well at El Tamborcito school where we went to volunteer. The well will provide water to the children who now walk 2 miles to the closest river for contaminated water to drink as well as the community of El Transito.


We all decided we would make it our mission to get the funds necessary to bring clean water to the small village.


Stu has done the research and has the tools and team ready to start digging.


Our goal is to raise enough funds to start Phase 1 of the well project ASAP before the rainy season starts and have the project completed by October.


Phase 1 - We need to hand dig deeper and that would take the most time.


Phase 2-  Once its deep enough we are going to clean everything inside and put some gravel , pump dirty water out and treat the new water so it is drinkable.


Phase 3 - Make a sealed concrete base on top, set the rope pump for easy water access.


Phase 4 - Health and hygeine education by meeting with the kids and personnel of the school to teach them about hand washing and how to take care of the well.



We will need a total of 3,500 for the water project but are starting with 1,000 to get phase 1 started!
