In Memory of Lucas Johnson

We would like to ask for any assistance that you might be able to offer, for this poor mother who just keeps getting punished with bad news. After fighting and surviving cancer herself as a single mother to two teenage boys, she was told the most horrible news a mother could ever hear on Sunday. Her youngest boy had gone swimming with his friends, and he wasn't able to get to shore before the powerful waves took over. Firefighters tried to help, but after only 45 minutes of searching, they had to be called in for their safety. All day Monday, she watched police search up and down on the rough waters looking for any sign of him, a day that ended in tears as nothing turned up, and we were forced to sit back and wait until the boat could go back out Tuesday morning. As soon as 8am hit, we were there and so were the police. Back out to the water the boat went and we sat and watched again. Painful hours, painful days. Tuesday afternoon they came in to switch shifts and and were told about a place under the pier that some locals had informed us of. As soon as they had a spare moment, they were out there to search it. Less than 15 minutes later they were pulling him from the water, an end to family waiting and questioning. Though the pain is not over and won't be for some time, we are all thankful that he has been found and we can start our proper grieving process. This poor mother has been through so much already in her life and we, her family, are asking for your help. Any money raised will help assist in the unexpected costs that will be occurring in the next couple of days. There will also be a candlelight vigil held at station beach in Kincardine, Tuesday August 4th at 8:30pm, for people to show their support for family and friends.
