Our team is heading out to serve at a boys' home in Peru this winter! We are going through Scripture Union International, a registered charitable orginization.
You can help us! Whether it be in giving of your finances or in prayer support, both will be deeply appreciated!
Our group leader, RAQUEL DUARTE, has been to the boys' home twice. This is her first time leading a team.
The home we will be going to is called Kusi. It is a small village located outside a Peruvian town called Yungay. To the east of Kusi, are the Huascaran Mountains. They are part of the Andes chain of mountains, and are the tallest ones in Peru. The countryside is gorgeous and breath-taking. Kusi is a home run by Scripture Union Peru and is supervised by husband and wife, Angel and Rosa Montesinos.
There are currently around 40 boys at the home.
Our GOAL while in Peru is to love on the boys and interact with them. Our hope is to raise enough funds for our team, and some extra to do special things for the boys, buy them neccesities, and bless them with things they are not used to having. Aside from spending quality time with the boys, the team will be doing some labor around the homes. This could be anything from building new structures, weeding, laundry, or cleaning.
Jewelry and bling is a big part of Peruvian culture. Markets sell a wide variety of hats, bracelets and many other colorful things to wear. The boys at the homes love to make bracelets.
So...for every $50 you contribute to the trip we will bring you back one of these beautiful handmade Peruvian bracelets to say thank you!
