Young Women's Peace Camp

The 3rd annual Young Women's Peace Leadership Camp is going to be held this August 24th-28th near Nelson, BC. This camp is for young women aged 15-35 who are invited to come and learn about peace and empowerment through a bunch of different workshops and discussions with local women, aiming to build confidence and encourage creativity and leadership.

"Explore ways of creating peace in your life, community and world at the Young Women’s Peace Leadership Camp. Meet women working for peace in many different ways and consider peacemaking careers and activism. Build confidence using nonviolent skills. Make friends and plan future activities in a beautiful Kootenay Lake setting. Peace Camp includes 13 meals and 13 workshops, and inner peace self-care experiences such as yoga, mediation, journaling, music, art, drama, building a network of support among participants and resource people."
The organizers have not been able to come up with as much funds as are necessary to conduct the camp in the most ideal way possible. We would like to fundraise money to offer scholarships to interested young women, and make it cheaper for everyone to attend. We also want to provide healthy, organic food. So far, we have $600 from the Credit Union & $100 from the Kootenay Coop and we will need a bit more that that in order to provide scholarships, childcare and honoraria.
So if you would like to donate, that would be so awesome!! All proceeds will go to the camp for food and scholarships so that young women can come for free or for cheap.
Also, food, volunteer & workshop contributions are welcome!
