Honoring Tavi Louise

Tavi Louise Case-Martin was born on May 20, 2015.  Weighing 1 lb 9 oz, she was born 15 weeks early and displayed a fighter's soul from the beginning.  Many of us have followed mamas Vickie and Melanie over the past month or so as they shared their joys and sorrows as little Tavi had her ups - gaining weight, opening her eyes, relying less and less on the ventilator - and downs - struggling with infections, seizures, and general uncertainty.  Vickie and Melanie's optimism and faith has been contagious, and Tavi's warrior spirit and her mothers' openness and vulnerability during this incredible struggle have inspired many.

On June 17, Vickie and Melanie received the worst news imaginable - despite Tavi's weight gain and other signs she was beginning to thrive physically, her little brain has been severely damaged by seizures.  Vickie and Melanie are actively seeking second and third opinions from doctors and experts in an effort to better understand their options.  As they move through the challenges ahead, I know they will rely on us - their community near and far, close and distant - to help ease the burden.

The purpose of this GoFundMe account is to assist in chipping away at the staggering costs that Melanie and Vickie will face in the coming weeks and to help them do what is best for Tavi.  No amount is too small, and any money that does not go towards covering Tavi's expenses will be donated to a related charity.
