Carolina&Lauren's Daddy Passed Away

Nicholas “Nick” Hettrick, father of Carolina (Age 11) and Lauren (Age 7) passed away unexpectedly last month, to the shock of his entire family. Sadly, he was 29 years of age and without any life insurance or savings.
Nick was a free-spirited young man who had an amazing sense of humor and a passion for adventure in all its forms. He was a kind man and would greet each and every person he met with a smile. He loved nature and outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and surfing, as well as structured sports such as running, basketball and soccer. He also enjoyed music and cooking. Ice cream and eggnog were among his favorite treats!
His girls are following in his foosteps with the love of the outdoors, as well Carolina "Lina" being a new runner, having completed two 5Ks last year and involved with the Girls on the Run Program. She is also an avid basketball (and football) fan. Lina has her Dad's sense of adventure (as well she looks just like him!) and she hopes to qualify for her middle school football team next year. Lauren will start soccer this year, she loves nature, princesses, animals, Girl Scouts and crafts. Both girls love to help in the kitchen as well as eating - which they chalk up to Daddy!
Nick's faith was important to him and it gave him strength through many hard days. We will continue this faith journey for his girls and know that it will provide comfort knowing that their Daddy is in heaven (and with their great-grandparents who they loved dearly, both having passed away in the last 2 years).
With this young father's passing, there is a financial burden that has become immediately challenging to the family, with the girls' Mom having moved out of state years ago and unable to provide any support.
These two girls are very special and very loved. Our family will do whatever it takes to keep the memory of their Daddy alive, as well as to provide a comfortable and supportive life (currently with an aunt) - especially given the level of loss they have experienced in their young lives.
We family members of Nick would greatly appreciate any kind donations that will be put to very good use for our sweet Carolina and Lauren. No donation is too small and will help to keep these two young girls on the right path through their new life without their daddy.
There are short-term needs (unplanned expenses due to Nick’s passing), medium-term needs (Counseling, Medical Care, Clothing, Girl Scout Camps, School expenses, etc), as well as long-term challenges and support needed for the girls to complete their education.
