My Pan Am/ Para Pan Journey

My name is Paulette Petahtegoose! I'm the one in the photo at one of the many events I've been fortunate enough to be apart of in my life. I have dedicated much of my blood, sweat, tears & money to be a volunteer at various events that have been nothing short of spectacular.  

My volunteer work has taken me to Juarez Mexico, where myself as well as a group of volunteers rebuilt a home where 16 young girls were sharing a single room. It has brought me to the water front in Lakeshore for multiple summers as I organized, ran, and was Captain for my companys Dragon Boat for Breast Cancer. It has brought me all over Windsor-Essex County as a Friend of the Environment for tree planting days. It however has mostly kept me centered at one location and that has been the University of Windsor.

For those who I was fortunate enough to meet during my university career, most of you know me as the girl who runs events on campus. I was fortunate enough to help run the Shinerama office for Cystic Fibrosis and was incredibly blessed to be asked to help our Student Life Director. This is where I spent 3 wonderful years volunteering/assisting the Student Life Driector with every single event he did. That volunteer experience brought many sleepless nights during Welcome Week as well as Frost Week. It brought me to 3 of the biggest music events our City has ever seen with Benny Benassi, Avicii, & Nicky Romero. Student events on campus kept me busy the entire school year. For all those involved and you know who you are I could never thank-you enough for all the things you have allowed me to be apart of.  These experiences have brought me to this very point, today.

This summer the Pan Am & Para Pan games are being hosted by our very own Toronto! And I, Paulette, have been selected as a Production Assistant for the Opening and closing ceremonies. I have the opportunity to work with Cirque du Soleil & B5C production company. This to date in my life is the single biggest event I have ever been able to be apart of. As a fresh Grad, who is actively seeking full time employment but is only working part time currently my resources are limited. By resources, I mean cash flow.  As my Pan am & Para pan  shifts extend from the start of July all the way until the middle of August I am forced to take most of this time off, taking this amount of time off really puts a dent in my income.  This is where you guys come in!

As a Volunteer, who lives 4 hours away I will be commuting to and from Toronto to work what little shifts I can.However, I am responsible for paying my way to and from Toronto. I am responsible for paying for my accomodations as well as meals. My accreditations give me free transit rides in Toronto and surrounding areas as well as paid meals during shifts. As most of you can imagine this amazing opportunity comes with a price.

For all those who know me, you know I am a hardworking, dedicated individual who gives nothing less than 100% for everything I am involved in. A lot of my time and money are dedicated to other individuals needs. I truly never ask for anything, except now. I am asking that each  individual donate whatever is within their means to support me and make this opportunity truly amazing. 

If for whatever reason you dont believe in lending me a helping hand during this time or can't justify it for this cause. You can think of it as a birthday present as my birthday is at the end of June and I will not celebrating in order to save cash for July and August! <3
