Poet Maggie Bloomfield and Artist Anne Drager have been accepted to create an art project as part of the JumpsART 2015 festival in Riverhead, NY free to the public. Maggie's and other poems are illustrated with cartoonish birds and these will be given free to the public in the form of flyers, cut-outs, greeting cards, and other paper objects.
Members of the public are encouraged to contribute their own poetry. Illustrated poetry flyers will be handed out by participating merchants with their receipts. Performers will be declaming poetry in various places. Poems will be tacked to your windshield. There will be two exibits/performance spaces at 133 East Main Street, the historic barn of East End Arts and 108 Peconic Ave, the back-office of Riverside Rediscovered, where people can color and inscribe cartoon birds and write, read, declame, or otherwise consume poetry. It's in the spirit of the festival not to charge admission, and visitors also may keep the drawings and poems created for the festival to take home. We are learning how not to go broke as artists by raising funds as best we can. This is a first for Maggie and Anne - please help us cover the cost of printing, photocopying, paper goods, envelopes, postage, renumeration for professional performers, to make this a memorable and enjoybale and FREE experience for the public in Riverhead on Friday August 7, 2015 from 5 pm to 10 pm.
