Please help the Wood Family rebuild

In August 2014 the Wood family (Josh, Samantha, Logan & Lilly along with their two dogs Roscoe and Pokey) made an exciting, yet scary and life changing decision. Josh took a job in Cobb, CA and they left their hometown of Ridgecrest, CA to embark on a new adventure. After what seemed like forever they finally found a home to call their own. Just a few months shy of a year they moved in to their dream house in April 2015.

On September 12, 2015 the Wood family spent the morning at the soccer fields watching their children play in a tournament. A very average day for them that turned into a nightmare in mere minutes. After the games they went to lunch at a cafe and Samantha happened to see a picture on Facebook of another resident in their small mountain town who had seen smoke in the air near their house.

After lunch they decided to drop Samantha off at the house to pack a few things just in case the fire got closer as Josh and the kids took the car to get gas. They could see a small amount of smoke in the sky. In the span of 10 minutes the sky was filled with smoke and it was moving fast. Josh loaded up their trailer and threw in some sleeping bags, a tent and a few keepsake tubs as well as important papers from their safe.

Suddenly explosions from propane tanks were going off, the power blew and their phone was ringing with cries from friends telling them to "Just go! Get out now!" They grabbed their dogs and turned down the road and the highway was an inferno. They literally had to drive over fire to get out alive, just 20 minutes from the time they saw a small amount of smoke.

The video above shows their home (the first driveway in the video was theirs) on September 13th. There is absolutely nothing left. They are so incredibly blessed to be alive and to have each other, but now they face the challenge of rebuilding from scratch.

They have been evacuated from their home and then secondly from the friends' house they stayed at on the first night. The community has come together and is trying to help as much as they can. Someone has lent them a trailer to stay in temporarily and they are living in the moment with no idea what is to come next.

They are very lucky to have insurance, but in the meantime they need to eat, wash clothes, feed the dogs, make sure they have enough blankets and warm enough clothes and everything in between. If you have anything extra that you could spare, even $5 is a giant help at this moment. Thank you for reading this.

Prayers are also greatly appreciated. <3
