Pawsgiving

Less than one year ago, Paws for a Cause was created at Wofford College. This animal-focused community service organization was created with the intent to enrich and save the lives of local animals. This is why we work with the Spartanburg Humane Society. 

This year we are hosting our first annual "Pawsgiving". During this time we will have drives, fundraisers, and events to raise funds that will go to saving the lives of dogs with heartworms.  The “Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets in the United States and many other parts of the world. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs and associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing severe lung disease, heart failure and damage to other organs in the body.”

The average treatment cost for heart worms is $420 and We are hoping to save 7 dogs by 2017. The money raised would go directly to the Spartanburg Humane Society for the treatment of heartworms. Below are some of the sweet faces affected by heartworms.
