Hi my name is Amy Ma and I am currently a student at Gettysburg College as a rising sophomore. I am currently interning with Kenya Medical and Education Trust (KMET Website) for two months focusing on the Gender Based Violence (GBV) project amongst youths. The GBV project supports and empowers mostly young women who are vulnerable to various types of violence in the community.
The GBV is an ongoing project that has been introduced to KMET about a year ago. One resource that the GBV project offers the young women is called Safe Space. Safe Space provides vocational training in catering, hair dressing, and tailoring for the young women. Since the GBV project is fairly new, having enough funds to maintain the resources provided is a challenge.
