In extra clean up cost, better evacuations, deeper pipelines if they are forced down our throats, safer working conditions for the clean up workers, better settlements to the sick residents, more inspections of the existing pipelines, and Education and Knowledge that we all need to save our environment, our water and future lives.  And trust me this documentary will create many more whistle blowers.

-I am a Navy Veteran with a Bronze Star that became a pipeline labor worker, that was appointed to be the Yard Boss by Enbridge for the biggest spill in inland U.S. history, I then became a oil spill clean up worker cleaning up oil almost im my back yard. Shortly there after I saw a massive cover up. I am now a Whistle Blower/environmental reporter trying to save lives and fight corporate injustices and bulling.


I am doing this for my family,
for my daughter Zayna
and for my future grandchildren and your children and your grandchildren. If we don't change things our children will not be able to take their kids to a clean beach or ocean. And purified water will cost more than gas. I am not against minimal resposible oil. But I am very against oil sands AKA Tar Sands which Canada sold to China and they are using the U.S. to export it to China. It is 15 to 50 times more toxic than what we put in our cars as it is sent through the pipelines. And documents prove that the pipelines can leak up to 2% a day before any alarms will go off. That means we will slowly posion our land, air and water.




Judge Kingsley shocked us all and dropped my lawsuit against Enbridge 2 weeks before my trial date of Dec. 9th and 4 weeks before he retires for NO logical good reason.

Even a NON BIAS 3 member Attorney panel did a case evaluation of my case and ALL 3 agreed my case had enough merit to win a Jury trial and would have a finacial award greater than $60,000.
I turned down the money against the wishes of my attorney. Even though I was broke and about to get an eviction notice on our place. We did get the notice.
And thank God we got some help and stopped the evection on the house we rent, but we currently live paycheck to paycheck like most families do. This gofundme is not to pay our personal bills it is to get help so we dont have to spend all of our personal bill money in this effort to help humanity.

Courtney said I have a family to support now and I can no longer spend all of our personal money on the oil spill documentary.  And she is right.
Why can't fellow activist prove to her that my hard work was not a waste of years of my life and that people do care and they really do want to help me help all of us.

If only 1% of the 400,000 that protested in NY would donate $25 we could accomplish more than if we had 20 more protest. Just the publicity in the news from the trial would be seen by 10's of millions. Not counting the powerful documentary that can change the course of history in this fight.

So even after 3 non bias attorneys sided with my lawsuit the Judge still dropped the case. Something is very fishy but I have no hard proof. But I am going to Quote the police chiefs wife "Its my opinion that the judge was paid off by Enbridge in your case and in our case"

I fought the tresspassing case and Enbridge didnt show up to court so it was dropped. This was all in the effort to intimidate and scare me into not investigating or video taping.
IT DID NOT STOP ME.



These are some of the people we have made testify under oath at depositions. The world needs this trial to happen. And I need help getting this powerful information organized and out to the public.
So now I have NO Attorney and NO money to pay an attorney to appeal the case. I have filed the Appeal under Pro Per to preserve my 21 day right to a appeal. But we have no chance of winning without an experienced appeals attorney and they are not cheap. At least $20,000. And I will need additional help very soon to even purchase the REQUIERED Court of Appeals transcripts in a timely matter. Thats at least $2,000.

I REFUSED a GAG ORDER that Enbridge demanded because I didn't want to be like all the other Whistle Blowers and take the money and be called a sell out even though we had a Eviction notice over Christmas. I wanted to be a Whistle Blower that didnt give into the money. And I wanted to go all the way to get the exposure from a under oath court proceedings. I wanted Enbridge to get what they deserved in the court of law. I wanted my community to get the Justice they deserved. Just you reading this has helps us all.  This case can help future whistle blowers come forward that wouldn't if they do not have a winning case to use as an example.

Below is a small draft wrote by a local resident for all of us. This is so much greater than I am. I am just a tool in Gods plan to expose one of the, if not the largest environmental cover up in North American history. I have NEVER applied for grants or had fund raisers. I have sold everything I owned and I have spent my lifes saving of $37,000 so far to expose this cover up.
My kidneys are not functioning properly and I am having migrains and major dizziness for the first time in my life (medical records by my VA doctor state that my exposure caused these symptoms) and my daughter was just born with a birth defect, my step dad has had cancer cut out of his faceMy Uncle died right after the spill. And before the spill he had passed a truck driving physical and was in concidered in great health. and my dog has had seizures.

All of this plus the interviews with over 100 sick residence has made me realize that I need to ask for help to pay someone to write a detailed book that the world can understand, and to help me edit and produce 1,500 GBs of powerful footage into a 4 hours of detailed documentary about the Kalamazoo, Mayflower, Yellowstone, Gulf spill, and about pipeline safety and footage of a pipeline being put in 10 feet from a residents house.

My documentary is not to 100% prove the hundreds of people are sick and dying from the exposure or that my daughters extra thumb came from my exposure. The documentary is everyones statements, all the interviews, scientific research and articles, pipeline research, the exposure of the cover up and lies from my investigation, and it is for the public to decide weather I have gathered enough information to make an educational opinion. I believe I have. It will teach people what to look for and do if there is a spill in a community. It will teach people what rights they have if a pipeline is coming through the property they own. It will teach all of us what cover ups and lies will be told by the oil and fracking companies.  I need to get this information and footage out before something happens to me. I can no longer do this alone with no finacial support.  There was just 400,000 people that walked the streets of NY to demand that polluting companies and politicians wake up and do what is right for our dying planet and environment. Over four years ago in July, Marshall, Michigan experienced the largest inland oil spill in North American history. The ecosystem was ravaged by the increasingly ubiquitous tar sands oil. This type of oil is utterly poisonous to every living creature. Tar sands oil is diluted with benzene and other carcinogens to make the thick tar, oil, and sand mixture better flow across continents through pipelines. An unnoticed tar sands oil pipeline geyser can be catastrophic, especially in a wetland or river area. That’s exactly what happened in Marshall, Michigan which flowed directly from Talmadge Creek into the Kalamazoo River. What could have made this king of environmental disasters worse? A deliberate top-down cover-up of oil orchestrated by the Canadian Enbridge Corporation and its cleanup sub-contractors.

According to whistleblower John Bolenbaugh, a former employee of SET Environmental, a subcontracted company by Enbridge responsible for the cleanup of the Kalamazoo River, workers were directly told to cover up oil with leaves, rocks, and eventually grass so that they could meet their impossible Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) deadline of the end of October 2010. John was wrongfully fired from his job for speaking out about this atrocity and seeking justice for Michigan’s ecosystem. Both the EPA and Enbridge signed off on all areas around the spill in October stating that they were 100% finished and clean.


So then why do we see Enbridge unceremoniously returning with their metaphorical tail between their legs and spending an additional half Billion with a B on the cleanup of Talmadge Creek, Ceresco Dam, Mill Ponds, Morrow lake and dozens of other areas the following Spring when the EPA and Enbridge signed off sayings all areas were one-hundred percent cleaned, cleared and restored with Millions spent on landscaping. In other words, if there were a reported 844,000 gallons of oil spilled from the pipeline, how could they recover well over 1.1 million gallons? The answer lies within Bolenbaugh’s exposure of the debacle. A brief study of his YouTube page will prove without a doubt a massive cover-up on the part of Enbridge and the EPA. Even residents have gave testomony to Bolenbaugh that they smelled the Tar Sand oil fumes 3 days before Enbridge reported the spill. What if Bolenbaugh is correct and there were a few million gallons spilt.
John has learned that Enbridge will profit as well as many of the other oil companies when there’s an oil spill. That doesn’t seem logical, but when you get into some facts, you then see that when they shut down the pipe to fix it, they are going to lose between six and 12 million dollars a day depending on most major pipelines to fix it. And let’s say it cost 100 million in lost revenue and the cost to fix the pipe. Enbridge actually would rather save money (In John’s opinion) by letting the pipe rupture and allowing the insurance company to clean up the oil by paying Enbridge or the oil company at fault to clean it up. He’s also learned that many oil companies make extra money when there is a spill because some of the clean-up companies and clean up materials are actually owned and made by the oil companies. Then, on top of that, the oil companies raise the prices in the region on the gasoline. Now they make money from all the extra charges they pass on to consumers. Even though the insurance company pays for most all of the lost revenue.

Maybe there’s a reader out there that thinks this sort of behavior is acceptable and unavoidable in order to lower gas prices or fix the economy or some other intangible sentiment. Most don’t know that China owns 80% of the Tar Sand oil from Canada and the United States is only refining it because it is to toxic to refine it in Canada according to the environmental rules they have in place. EPA says Tar Sand oil is 82% more toxic than our normal car oil and documents state it is up to 50 times more toxic when all the pipeline thinners are added. So the United States pollutes our air, water and land and we don’t even use it for our own gas tanks. We export it to China or back to Canada. Guess what the number one export in the United States is, its oil. We have been trained to beleive we have a shortage of oil and if we don’t allow these oil companies to do as they wish our gas prices will go up. The prices will only go up because of corporate greed.
In the future, john’s goal is to save lives. Now he has a reference and his goal is to make a documentary about what he’s done in the last four years in documenting the largest inland oil spill in north American history. If he can get a documentary made in detail so the common person can understand the lies they’re being told and how to protect themselves and thier families if there’s an oil spill in their community then John knows he can save lives. The only way he can logically do that is with more exposure. A team of people working together for a super important cause. This story he knows needs to be told or it all goes to waste and more people will die. This is why he has to have books written; documentaries made. WE need to have the story in the public eye as much as possible. John doesn’t care about fame or fortune but he does care about logic.

The Crew
His number one goal in the future besides saving lives is to have a crew of people approximately four that will travel within twenty four hours to any major contaminate spill or chemical spill. He wants them all to be HazWhopper qualified, and for them all to have protective equipment including gas masks. He wants them to have press passes, video cameras in hand, and for them to be able to safely document all future spills. Because what happens is that these oil companies do everything in their power to keep the press or residents with video cameras away from these areas. They say it’s to keep them safe. But the truth is bad PR is very expensive.



Donators would be helping themselves and their children. John uses one hundred percent of any donations solely for oil spill documentation, education, and investigation. These oil companies at no surprise to John hire the local police as thugs using county and city equipment to run away any legitimate source that wants to document these oil spills. He even has a police officer on video say after he asked him “Is it your job to harass me?” and the officer replies “Yeah, maybe a little bit.” Now this police officer was following him around, harassing him, when all he was doing was walking around with a video camera on public property with his protective gear on. Why? It’s because evidence is bad PR. Documentation is bad PR. Educating the public is bad PR. Exposing any cover up is a very costly situation for any company. He wants to have toxic chemical readers with them so that way he can get accurate readings that the public would normally not be told. He wants to have town meetings within twenty four hours to make sure everyone is evacuated immediately according to official guidelines and company guidelines. Which many are lied to.

Conventional oil spills are to have an evacuation of at least 1000 feet. Tar sands oils are more dangerous. They only evacuated 200 feet in Michigan and only where the spill occurred, not downriver. So you have Baker trailer park, thirteen miles away from the spill where the oil was actually ten feet away from some of the resident’s trailers. Why weren’t they evacuated? The EPA, waited to evacuate until ten days after the spill from the trailer park. What really bothers John about the way they handled the evacuation is that the chemicals are not as bad on day 10 or even as close to as bad as they were on day 1, People died in that trailer park soon after the spill and are still dying. Over a dozen in 4 years.That’s why he wants to have the town meetings to protect the people from having these chemical exposures if they’re not being told upfront by the oil companies.

If we have one major spill in the Great Lakes and or the massive Ogallala aquifer. The United States will lose 30% to 50% of all our fresh water for generations. No drinking it, no using it for live stock or crops, no eating the fish. The destruction of the ecosystem is commonplace and accepted in America so where’s the harm? The poisoning of the Kalamazoo River that flows into the source of drinking water for nearly 8.5 million people, then, might just be an unnecessary evil perpetrated by companies from our northern neighbors. What’s the harm of this oil anyway??


John Bolenbaugh: “Do you think people are faking sick?”
Fourteen-year Battle Creek Police Officer Martin: “I don’t think you can fake dying. You’re not going to fake that. And I know I’m not faking my headaches and I know I haven’t had those before the oil spill.” Not only were fish and dogs getting tumors and dying after being exposed to the river and the oil within, but now people were going into comas, and having unexplained and first-time seizures just from breathing the air around the river because Enbridge did not evacuate the homes of river-residing residents as required by the workers own training books.
John lived on the river and most don’t know that he was a victim of the spill as well as a former supervising yard boss appointed personally by Enbridge and was also a oil spill clean up worker for S.E.T. Environmental. John was exposed on a daily basis to the toxic chemicals. Johns kidneys are damaged and his own daughter was just born with a deformity, Women have had miscarriages and men and women have died, it is our opinion we and even Enbridges own material safety data sheet supports that the Tar Sand chemicals from the spill were or can be the cause and the negligence and greed that Enbridge has exhibited is devias. Enbridge of course denies any wrong doing or responsibility for the hundreds of sick men, women and children. Enbridge has settled hundreds of lawsuits and as a stipulation Enbridge makes the residents sign gag orders. Why demand a gag order unless you are guilty? How can one expect to be treated after the display of virtue in the face of a clandestine environmental holocaust?John cried knowing that he’s the only one that can bring any justice to this multi-billion dollar corporation. John says that he can’t quit no matter if he is killed. And there are accusations that several whistleblowers in the gulf were killed after they came forward. John has done a last will and testament because he is scared for his life. But john has the courage to do something that most men will never even think of doing.

John’s had the cops called on him over a dozen times where they actually showed up, so he imagines they’ve been called about fifty times by Enbridge. Several times that Enbridge called the cops, he was on private property. Even though that Enbridge told the police he was on Enbridge property. Matter of fact, one land owner, Arthur Rice went up to the police and told them that John had permission to be on his property and Enbridge was lying to the police. It’s getting to the point now that the police don’t even show up or when they do show up, they tell him that they’re not going to arrest him because they know what’s going on and they’ve actually watched several of his videos. The last time a state police officer showed up, and his last words to John before he left were “It’s very honorable what you’re doing, John” to hear that, from a state cop, really meant something to him. He almost choked up that day because finally, officials in his community know that he’s always tried to do the right thing.

Bolenbaugh received death threats. And not only death threats, but attempted hits on his family. At first it just seemed threatening with having his tires slashed. Then it got serious when he went out to his truck one morning to find his breaks cut. But the latest of murderous attempts by what John feels is coming from the oil pipeline corporation and its constituents was much less obvious. Before a ride on his motorcycle with his wife, Bolenbaugh’s neighbor noticed something horribly wrong. Someone had removed the two screws on the front fork which held the front wheel on and loosened the two on the opposite side.

John: “You’re 74 years old?” Neighbor: “Yep.” John: “And have you ever seen bolts come out like that?” Neighbor: “Nope I’ve raced them and I’ve never had one wheel fall off ever I’ve never had one loosen up either they’re not built to loosen up.” John: “And so I had two that were gone and two that were loose.” Neighbor: “Right” John: “What does that make you think?” Neighbor: “Somebody don’t like you.”
I didn't know oil was safe to swallow or eat.



Ward Lawrence of the Kalamazoo County Sherriff’s office had this to say: “I’m going to write down what you told me and make sure you get justice because you’re getting justice for everybody. Those —-ing bolts didn’t fall out. I’m not buying it. Whatever somebody did … If one fell out we could all sit around, drink beer, and say look what happened. But two at exactly the same time? Bull—-. And when the other two are loose, that just points to a person that did it. You drew a line in the sand against a very big enemy. John you are the Alamo against the Mexican army. Hopefully you don’t have the same outcome. But you also can’t undo what you started… You already blew the whistle… Your videos are already out there… You can’t walk away from it. It’s not like you can quit halfway into the game.
John is suing Enbridge for wrongful firing and harrassment. John has been followed on several occasions and blocked into a parking lot by official Enbridge staff while cameras were documenting it all. Even an Enbridge head supervisor has admitted under oath that John reported the cover up. And that John was not going to allow Enbridge to lie and cover up oil in his community. John admitted to Enbridge that he went to the EPA and the press weeks before and was going to make new complaints the very next day. John was fired the very next morning.
What is sad, is that no one believed in John at first. And only some started to believe after the State of Michigan did an investigation and after such. Released Johns unemployment benifits against the request of S.E.T Environmental, with written documentation that validated that John violated NO policies and WAS wrongfully fired. S.E.T tried so hard to keep the truth of the cover up under raps that they told Johns co-workers that John was fired for stealing gas. Which was later under oath proved to be a falsified accusation. S.E.Ts court documents stated “John Bolenbaugh was fired for reporting a oil cover up to the media which made Enbridges reputation look bad” and that “Enbridge supervisor (Dave Murphy) told S.E.T to not allow John Bolenbaugh back on site the next morning” after reporting the cover up.
John Bolenbaughs 8,000 hours and 4 years of selfless investigation and documentaion of the spill. With hundreds of interviews of sick residents When soon completed just may be one of the most historical environmental documentaries of all time. It may cost many oil companies hundreds of millions just from the knowledge it brings to the residents of a future spill as well as the ability to save countless future lives.?

“ If we were ever asked we were told to say we are experts at under water submerged oil. (recovery) TRUTH IS WE DIDN’T HAVE A CLUE. There was a lot of cover up and lies… It was a lot more dangerous than People wanted to publisize… From our S.E.T supervisor in front of our entire crew “Per Enbridge orders, Enbridge doesn’t want anyone talking to the EPA if they do you will be gone”. John got fired for talking to the EPA. I am fighting back tears, you have no idea how upsetting this is. People are sick and dying over this stuff… Whats going to happen to me 10 to 15 years down the road? Enbridge was more worried about the P.R… You have to have a conscious, what is a human life worth, what is the towns safety worth… The workers were putting there lives on the line for Public relations… We were told to not wear our gas mask which is the most important part of our safety equipment. I don’t think you have to be a chemist to know there is something wrong with this situation… We were told by Enbridge on site contracted managment (Jason Buford) to throw grass over the oil. To be honest if John wouldn’t have made all the stink he made you guys would have been gone a long time ago after the first season and would have only done the minimum… Enbridge was forced to come back because of John. Maybe Enbridge had the EPA in their pockets because they were closing down areas and we were still getting oil up. It was rediculous, it wasn’t done! I am only here because I am being forced to testifiy and I have to tell the truth. I don’t personally like John even though he tried to be extra nice to me. He just rubbed me the wrong way because he was rocking the boat and I didn’t want to lose my job… John dug into this deeper, what John did was the right thing. I think this world needs more John Bolenbaughs in it, because I Kevin Jacobs obviously didn’t step up. ”

“ At the start of the deposition. Enbridge Attorney so subtle, passed a document that seemed to threaten Garret to not testify, because he signed a confidentiality agreement. This makes me imagine how many workers want to come forward and report the cover up but are scared that if they speak out against the giant. Enbridge will sue them. Why should Enbridge even request workers to sign these agreements unless they want their actions kept secret. Garret wasn’t shaken and stood up to Enbridge. I (Garret) was a DK security guard for the Enbridge oil spill. And Enbridge contractors told me horrible things about John that I later found out was very untrue. I had to tell Enbridge sub contractors to stop running up to john as john was video taping from public property. I told the workers to go back to work and leave John alone. I then started helping john and I snuck him Enbridge documents that had johns picture and licence plate on them. I now know from experience John is a man of intergrity and Honor. John has spent countless hours exposing Enbridge corruption. His detication to his community, to the State of Michigan and to this Nation is proof of his selfless service. John is a true red blooded American hero that loves his country and the people in it. John would do anything and everything for his fellow man. ” Garret Murry

I had the oppertunity to teach these amazing men and women in person about a Tar Sand cover up and spill. I have gave free tours to at least 100 news reporters or documentary crews. And gave away my footage to dozens for free to get my community more exposure.John even ripped up a check that was a down payment of $2,500 of a $10,000 offer for the use of his videos and to give a speech to sick residents that were joining Mike Obriants lawsuit. John gave a speech and I gave the footage away for free. John has proved over and over again he was in this fight for the right reasons. John didn't do any of this for the money. And I have heard people say John must be in this for the money. But that doesnt make logical sense because if he kept his mouth shut he would have made over $100,000 a year at his normal job working less days and hours than what he does right now for free. And if John kept all the videos and didn't put them on facebook and youtube for the world to see for free. John could have easily took the 4 years of investigating and 1,500 GB of footage to Enbridge and I am sure Enbridge would have paid millions to keep them unseen for eternity. It would have saved Enbridge several hundred million in re-clean up cost in the long run.

Rob: This is a piss poor company that should care more about people than oil. They should care about their environment that they’re living in. do you want to drink oil for your coffee? Money ain’t everything.

John: “no one ever wins in court against these powerful deep pocket companies, if the companies think they will lose all they do is throw money at the whistle blower to prevent a public court preceding. I want to be the first to turn down that money and go all the way in front of a jury of my peers, from my local community, for the exposure so the truth gets out. This fight isn’t about money. If I cared about the money I would have kept my mouth shut and collected my Union wages of $2,000 to $4,000 a week for the next 25 years. This fight is about telling the truth that there was a massive cover up by Enbridge and the Epa and most of all this is about my children and their childrens children growing up with Gods giving right to have fresh clean non toxic water that you don’t have to purchase”

Yes, it is true that in times of great deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. Community involvement and backbone is key. We must not be intimidated by these global giants no matter how much money they throw at us or how much they threaten us. The fate of our world is much larger than the fate of what happens to us. Now is the only time that we can stand up against the destruction of our environment. This is a call to do your research, make up your mind, and choose to act in a manner that is the most beneficial to the health of the earth and your future generations.
