Wheels For Harley

Donation protected

Our mission is to raise £700 for his bike and anything over this will go towards levelling the garden and installing some kind of artificial grass which will be easier for Harley to walk on with his walker and play with his friends.

Harley was born with a number of conditions which means he spends a lot of his time as an inpatient in Yorkhill Children's Hospital and has done since he was born in March 2012. When he was born his oesophagus wasn't attached to his stomach and there was a part of it joined to his wind pipe. At a very small age of just two days old he underwent major surgery totalling at 10 hours during which he had a gastrostomy (feeding tube) fitted for his feeds and was given an oesophagostomy which was a little hole in his neck for anything he swallowed to come out of. He was completely nil by mouth until he was 15 months old when he had his second 10 hour surgery for a gastric tube oesophageal replacement which was when the surgeons cut Harley's stomach in half and made a tube out of the other half to effectively be his oesophagus.

He also has partial sacral agenesis which is very similar to spinabifida but is rarer so not very well known. This means the bottom of his spine is missing which affects his mobility, continence and sensation. Harley has very low muscle tone from the knee down and wears splints to support his feet and ankles as they are fixed and don't move and very tiny. Due to Harley's mobility issues he is unable to do what most kids take for granted like, ride a bike and even play football without the help of his walking aids.
