Expedition Skurf: Sk8 2 Surf

Hello,
my name is Micah Willis and this is my gofundme page for Expedition Skurf: Sk8 2 Surf!
What is Expedition Skurf?
Expedition Skurf is a series of ultra endurance board adventures used to raise money for charitable causes!
In the first installment Micah Willis stand up paddled his long board skate board (SSUP) from St. Louis MO to Suncoast Surf Shop in Treasure Island Florida to get to his PaddleFit Level 3 certification course. All the while using the growing audience to raise awareness and money for burn victims.
Upon arriving at the finish line, I met a 22 year old girl named Kari Hyde, who was just beginning her battle with cancer. She was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer on the morning of February 3rd, 2014. She wanted me to teach her to SUP, but I was unable to make it happen at the time. Now, more than a year later, she has been through Chemo and beat the cancer. I am using the second installment of Expedition Skurf: Sk8 2 Surf to raise money to buy a paddle board for Kari, deliver it to her, and teach her how to use it.
In her journey since we first met, Kari has adopted a healthier lifestyle and a paddle board would be the perfect addition to help her continue a happy, healthy way of life.
What is the second installment of Expedition Skurf: Sk8 2 Surf?
The second installment is moving more towards what I feel is the proper evolution of the event. I will start out, with 4 other athletes, Joseph Burnham, Morgan Dorsett, Reuben Wielms and Harley Waggoner, at Frontier park in St. Charles, MO on Jully 22nd. We will skate along the historic Route 66 to Kansas City, MO. Then for the second leg Morgan Dorsett and myself will stand up paddle on the MO River back to Frontier Park in St. Charles, MO ending no later than July 31st. However, on the way back we will be competing in the MR340, the world's biggest nonstop river paddle race going 340 miles along the MO River from KC to Frontier park. there are 9 checkpoints along the MR340 that must be made in specified times or the athlete will be disqualified.
This event is sanctioned by the Shralpers Union and is currently being sponsored by,
Sewer Surfers
Elite Fitness SUP
Burning Spider Stoke Co
Braden Boards
PaddleFit
SUP Englewood
DaStrap
This is a 100% non for profit event. Money raised will be used to purchase a paddle board for Kari and help make the event happen. Any extra money raised will be donated to Funk Cancer, which is Kari Hydes breast cancer awareness group she now uses to help women who can't afford breast cancer testing.
