Assist Ghana: Flood Relief Drive
On the 3rd of June, 2015, the vibrant city of Accra (in Ghana, West Africa) experienced torrential rains that caused a massive, city-wide flooding. The flooding inadvertently caused an explosion at a fuel station.
Assist Ghana is a group of people mobilized to provide relief to victims of the recent Accra Floods which resulted in a death toll of over 150 people, with thousands more injured and displaced. Our mission is to create verifiable, transparent and immediate solutions for the victims of the floods. This includes providing food, financial, medical and emotional assistance, where possible, to alleviate pressures created by the floods.
Primarily focusing on four affected areas, namely Tema New Town, Odorna (lower end of Adabraka), Nima and Circle, our current plan of action is to run pop-up relief locations on the ground to aid relief efforts; we intend to provide food and care packages as well as medical assistance to victims and are utilizing a team of volunteers to help with the collection and distribution of the provisions.
How You Can Help
As this is an immediate response initiative, individuals and organisations can contribute by pushing out our messaging through their networks to help raise awareness as well making monetary donations which will go directly towards the provision of food and care packages for victims.
