Walking the Talk- WRCAikido 4 CAC

WRCAikido
Hi I’m Michael Pleiss and I’m inviting you to join me as I walk the entirety of the Appalachian Trail to help the Child Advocacy Center of Bristol County  and the work we do at the Wellness Resource Center Aikido Dojo  in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

After retiring from the Fall River Police Department I wanted to do something different and challenging but I couldn’t see the point in taking such a long walk for no reason.  I saw an opportunity to connect my decades long practice of Aikido at WRCAikido with an organization of profound importance to our community.

Aikido is a Martial Art but the name means the way of Peace and Harmony.  We study how to bring resolution to chaos; how to bring calm to conflict.  As a police officer I used my training everyday to diffuse tense situations and insure the safety of anyone I came into contact with.

As a first responder for many years I’ve seen the work of the Child Advocacy Center first hand.  Dealing with the most heinous crimes and the most vulnerable victims in our community, our children, the CAC performs really difficult work with compassion and professionalism each and every day.

So that’s why I’m walking for both WRC AIKIDO and the Child Advocacy Center in Fall River.  The principles of compassion, strength, and harmony that we practice in the dojo are very much at work at the CAC and I want to use this trek as a way to bring attention to these two passions.

So help me Walk the Talk.  The Appalachian Trail is officially 2,190 miles.  Take that number, 2190, and put the decimal place anywhere you want.  A donation of any amount is good and appreciated and will help two great organizations promote wellness, healing, and compassion in our community.

Thank you for your consideration.  Stay tuned for updates from the trail!
