Walking For a Brighter Future

Tax deductible
First off we can't thank you enough for the support and donations on our 35.6 mile trek across Sussex County on September 21st.

Our Story
: Our names are Alex Albanese and Jacob Buttery, and we are University of Delaware graduates, friends, humanists, and athletes. Jacob Buttery received a degree in finance and is now working at The Vanguard Group (Valley Forge, PA), a company known for promoting and engaging in community activism. Alexander Albanese received a degree in mass-media, communications. And, As a team we have decided to make a change in public education.

Our Goal: To bolster and promote stronger public education.

A little bit about us:

Jacob Buttery: "My greatest hope is that this walk will serve as a catalyst for change in Delaware education. The impact we deliver on September 21st must be channeled into a movement for educational equality for all children receiving a public education, and it is my deepest hope that Alex and I, through publicity, determination, and gumption, can birth a revolution in Delaware's educational system.

My preferred subset of social activism is education, and my insatiable urge to see equality in education compels me to seize this unique opportunity."

Alexander M. Albanese: "I can't begin to express how thankful I am for growing up in the Cape Henlopen area. This walk symbolizes my thanks for the teachers, coaches, parents, and community members who supported me through my years in the Cape Henlopen School District. Because it is virtually impossible to repay each teacher, benefactor, or past coach who molded me into a mature and independent adult, I aspire to be apart of a growing community and reinvest into the future of the Cape Henlopen community by trekking across Sussex County."

In order to give back to the community, we are fundraising in order to donate to the Cape Henlopen Education Foundation (CHEF).

CHEF: The Vision that CHEF and the Cape Henlopen School District has for the program is to create:

1. Healthy, creative, productive children
2. A strong vibrant community
3. A secure future for us all

Touching the lives of nearly 5,000 students and their families, CHEF provides funding to programs that directly affect children and to teachers for innovative educational programs that would not normally receive funding from the district. Our mission isn't just to reinvigorate education; but to invest in both our community's future vitality and its youth. By continuing to strengthen our diverse school district, we are significantly supporting the health of our towns and the surrounding area.
