Scarlett's Garden

Donation protected
Hello we are the Price family!
We are working to raise money in order for our garden to be made accessible and safe for our daughter Scarlett.
Scarlett is 4 in August but a traumatic labour and birth has left her with a form of cerebral palsy, epilepsy and development delays. Like most little girls her age Scarlett is very active and loves to play and sing. The difference however, is that Scarlett is not yet able to walk.
Our happy little girl is learning to walk with the aid of a K Walker and a Rifton Pacer, she also wears splints to strengthen her ankles and help her maintain a good foot position.  She works so hard every day at home and at nursery to build up her balance and strength!
Despite our best efforts the garden is not accessible or safe for Scarlett, and at present we are unable to let our daughter use her equipment outside, we are desperate for her to be able to play outside and for us to work on her physio outdoors.
We have already paid this year for a small extension downstairs in order for her to play and use her walker in the house, sadly all of this has come from loans and my mum,  we are unable to afford the work needed to sort outside for her too and we cannot take a further loan out.
We would love to have artificial grass put down and rubber chippings in the borders for safety  so that we can use outside all year round with our daughter.
In addition to her mobility difficulties Scarlett also has problems with her fine and gross motor skills, she has very little balance of her own and needs constant supervision and support to move round the home or anywhere else. Her speech is also delayed and so we have to work extra hard with many services such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, portage, physio and conductive education. Everything in her life has been incredibly difficult, even simple things like using a cup or sitting without help and a squiggle chair has had to be taught, and worked on with physiotherapists. Despite all this she continues to develop and amaze us every day, she really is such a joyful little girl that always smiles and sings!
We want our daughter to have the experiences any child her age has, we are desperate to see her play on a slide or walk outside.  Can you imagine your child at nearly 4 having to be carried everywhere, fed, unable to run and play at parties and occasions?  Struggling to talk to friends and family?  Being looked at in her pram by people who "think" she should be walking instead. Even getting on a chair at home? What if you couldn't bath your child without help from your husband or family member?  What if you couldn't leave her to sleep over at family and friends? Neither Scarlett or us get a break away from each other at present. Our daughter is getting big now, she still sleeps every night in our room so we can be sure she doesn't choke whilst having a seizure. We have never had a night apart from her as her epilepsy is still not stable despite her medication, Please could you help us create a safe space for Scarlett this summer, it would mean so much to our family.  Working her muscles and improving her gross motor skills for life. This will all help her when she starts school in 2016, if we can get her walking we will do it! Please help our family today! X
