Be a part of Reclaimed's Success!

My name is Justice Harney, and I am the founder of Reclaimed Art Suppliez.  Reclaimed is a very different place in the downtown Las Vegas community.  Reclaimed is a "Creative Re-Use" store. That means we take in items that most people would throw away, and we use it for art instead, but Reclaimed is so much more than that.  People say it feels like a coffee shop or coming over to that one really cool aunt's house where you are aloud to get messy while exploring the inner artist that you never knew existed.

Reclaimed is a special place where locals and others from many backgrounds get to discover their true self.  People's everyday masks come off, and I see their true authentic self.  Everyday I talk to people and I feel I am a transition counselor, and people are in transition all over this city. People are discovering the regular way of life that we all have been living consumed with money, not doing what makes us happy and being overly concerned with what others think isn't working. It is only causing us pain. At Reclaimed I am able to help people of all walks of life discover their purpose, and I'm able to help them make this discovery through art, music, classes, and just good old-fashioned conversation. I remind people that, if you are starting with garbage, then you can't go wrong. There is no right or wrong with art.

Reclaimed is based on what I call the Circulatory System of Giving.  People donate second-hand art supplies, money, and any other reclaimed treasures to the store, so that others can use these items, or purchase them at greatly discounted prices.  The idea is that those who have more can give more, and those that have less can give less. Even those that have only a hug to give, that is just fine too.  As long as there is an exchange of energy everthing is equal.  People donate what they can to just come inside, make art, or take home art supplies to use on school projects, or that amazing new mixed media piece they are working on.  Even local teachers come in to dig through the donation room and find interesting things for their class to use on their next project.

It's community funded!

I opened this store exclusively with the help of volunteers.  They helped paint the walls, and make the shelves from pallets we purchased from our houseless neighbors who work hard to make whatever they can.  This store, and the idea behind it, is solely funded by the community.  We receive no funds from the city in the form of grants or any other means. We are solely supported by the community.

Whether it's people sitting in the creation station making art, or people coming to watch and perform at the Human Experience All Ages Open Mic once a month or it's Tribal Tuesday where people can learn Native American art and history, or people coming to see the latest art installation about body image, or Women That Hold Half The Sky, Reclaimed is changing the way downtown feels, thinks and redefining how our communty can come together to support all of us.

The reason for this GoFund Me account is because we are falling behind with expenses and it is an everyday struggle to keep our doors open. It doesn't take much to keep this place going, but if we can't pay the rent than we cannot remain open and serving the community.  That's why I am asking for help.  There is a very real chance we might have to close our doors.  I don't want this to happen; the community doesn't want this to happen and we need you.  We need you to support us with this fundraiser and in the future as well.

If you can only give once, we thank you, but if you can give a mere $5 per month (or more if you would like) Please go to this link and become a member of our amazing community.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Thank you.
