Everyday of his life, Randy Mayhew, Jr. (Little Randy), fought to live and live happily. He was born with a rare condition known as epidermolysis bullosa dystrophica (EB) and not expected to live beyond his first year. Thanks to the love and care of his parents, Randy, Sr. & Daphne, Little Randy lived to see his 18th birthday. Ten days after his 18th birthday, Little Randy passed away on June 1st, 2015 at 4:11 am.
His struggle has come with a devastating price, though. He was recently hospitalized, and in addition to funeral costs, Randy's parents are now saddled with enormous hospital bills which will most likely reach the $400K mark.
No parent should have to endure the loss of their child, and then the blow of crushing debts on top.
Patients living with EB are known as "Butterfly Children," since their skin is as fragile and thin as a butterfly's wings. We're calling this Randy's Butterfly Campaign, though, in the hopes that we can lift their burden and ease their stress, as Little Randy would certainly want us to do.
Any contribution you can make, no matter how small, will go a long way towards easing the difficulties the Mayhew Family has yet to face.
