New Hartford Volunteer EMS Updates
Donation protected
NHVA provides 24/7 emergency medical care to New Hartford, Barkhamsted and West Hartland. Along with our local first responders, we provide transport to hospitals with our 3 state certified ambulances. In the past year the state has introduced new protocols that would provide a higher level of care to our community. However with a growing call volume and less volunteers every year we need your help to provide the best service possible to you.
12 Lead Monitors are now approved for use at the EMT level. Once acquired these will help us determine earlier the best facility to take heart attack patients.
The medical radios we are looking to purchase would allow us to talk to the on call ER doctor at our sponsor hospital when we are not near the ambulance. The goal is to use these in conjunction with the 12 lead monitors to have a treatment plan before the patient even leaves their house.
Narcan is now allowed at all EMS provider levels in CT. Narcan is a lifesaving anti-opiate that is already on all of our ambulances. Our goal is to equip our first responders, who live in outlying areas, with this life saving drug.
