Making of A Gangsta - Documentary

In 2011, I had the privilege to represent the City of San Jose Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force in Washington DC at  a Youth Crime Summit. The Summit was represented with White House Staff, Mayor's, Police Chiefs, Educators, Foundations and Non-profits. The objective was to come up with solutions on how to deter  the escalating numbers of gangs and gang members. Much of the discussions revolved around suppression. In other words arresting and incarcerating as a means to  deal with gangs and gangsters. Sensing the burden that  weighed on the shoulders of the public leaders...it dawned on me.  If we are going to impede on this growing epidemic ...we need everyone. Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Friends, Neighbors,  Teachers, Churches, Foundations, Public Agencies, Non-profits and Communities. 

This is the inspiration behind Making of A Gangsta Documentary. To convey the notion that no one is born a gangster. Gangsters are made.  A good natured child takes the effort and practice to evolve as a gangster...radically changing their mindset, talk and walk. 

The goal of the documentary is to incite a proactive approach (encouragement, hope & love) in people who  observe a young person taking steps toward a gangster life and intervene.  The bottom line...each person has the power to make a difference. 

My objective is to supply schools, educators, parents, cities, non-profit agencies, foundations etc... with a tool to educate and influence a person into a purpose driven life.
