Story?
We have been doing this marriage dance for 16 years........
3 years ago we were put to the ultimate test in our love after the loss of sweet koa nakai age 3.5. I was driving down the drive way and Koa chased my car. I did not see him behind the car and when I pulled into the parking spot my tire knocked him over and he hit his head on the rock wall. He died in my arms moments later with his brother and I present.
This tragedy challenged every cell of our bodies, broke our spirit and shattered our sweet little family of four into 1000 pieces.
For many moons we did not know if we would make it as a family, as a couple.
With tremendous support from our community and the grace of the powers that be we have now made it three years without Koa.
With the divorce rate being 87% of all couples who lose a child what’s true is this ceremony of re-marriage is another step on the road to saying yes to life. Yes to the unpredictable, tragic beauty of being a human. Yes to loving in spite of the outrageous pain of loss. Yes to STAYING TOGETHER even though everything under the sun said RUN from love and life.
Lastly I will share that the need to recommit also comes from the need to change our anniversary date. Our first anniversary date falls on Koa's birthday...a date that really will never be a day of celebration again...
People have been asking what we want for a marriage gift....
The only thing we want is to make a bright and beautiful memory for our family..we want to take a trip together and just rest, celebrate and be together...that’s why I created this page...instead of material gifts we are asking that if it is within your ability to give then please give here....otherwise just send a blessing of love and longevity..every prayer counts!!
