Circus Stars new equipment and Van!

Donation protected
Circus Stars is a specially designed circus training program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Founded by youth circus practitioner Kristy Seymour and is the only circus school solely dedicated to children on the autism spectrum. The Circus Stars program is an innovative way to enhance gross and fine motor skills while building confidence and having fun!

The Funding Campaign:
We are seeking to raise $7500 to purchase new equipment for Circus Stars to further the development of our current students and to grow the school to reach more children. This funding will go towards: a tight wire, safety mats, hula hoops, agility and core stability equipment and a van to transport the gear around QLD so that we can visit schools and special needs clinics to provide as many children as possible with the magic of circus therapy.

Circus Stars operates without government funding. We are not a charity or not-for profit organisation.  We are a 100% user pays system which means we don’t make much from the classes, only enough to cover trainer wages and space rental. Therefore it can be difficult to access funds to grow our program to buy new equipment and restock old equipment. Head trainer and founder Kristy Seymour uses whatever spare cash she can (which isn’t a lot being a full time PhD student!) to fund the program and get the word out on how circus training can enhance the well being of children on the autism spectrum. Circus Stars is passionate about making a change in the lives of autistic children and their families. We hope you can help us achieve this through your generous support!

A bit about what we do:

The Circus Stars classes are based around 5 key elements of why circus works for children: to have fun, to take safe risks, to build trust and work as a team, to encourage individuality, and to work hard on our skills. Circus Stars aims to provide a flexible learning environment, where children can participate in various skills at their own pace and skill level, this allows them to develop as individuals, while still belonging to the group.

In the two years it has been operating Circus Stars has made a huge impact in many children’s lives, improving their physical growth and academic growth as well as providing a social support system and an inclusive way for them to be themselves and learn how to be confident. Circus Stars makes a difference and we want to reach more children and change more lives for the better through circus!
