M'YMCA Mural
Tax deductible
The goal of the Y Mural Project is to use art as a vehicle for collaboration and healing in the Midtown neighborhood in Kingston, NY, through the collaboration of muralist Julia Santos Solomon and the Kingston YMCA. We want to paint a portrait of this richly diverse community, and to celebrate their stories.
The mural is a community project that would involve senior citizens, families, elementary school children and high school students. A special focus will be placed on mentoring youth at risk.
Our intention is to create something that makes the neighborhood vibrant and strong, that it takes ownership of the mural, and that it becomes a source of pride for the residents.
The project is described in this presentation.
