Help us bring the Camino de Santiago to everyone

Hello, we're Bas and Sam. Last year, we met whilst walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain, a journey renowned for its 500 miles of spiritual significance and stunning beauty. This pilgrimage has always been a path of personal transformation for many. Unfortunately, it remains out of reach for those who are physically unable to undertake it; like seniors and individuals with disabilities.

We'll make the Camino accessible

Moved by the profound impact of our journey, we’ve decided to bring the Camino to them. We plan to capture every single step of the 500 miles and 32 days into a high-quality virtual Pilgrimage. A pilgrimage all the way from the south of France to Santiago de Compostela. We’ll capture every moment that a real pilgrim will experience; film every step in the landscape, see every church and village, hostel, and join every night for a shared pilgrims meal. This isn't just about taking you on the path but also about sharing the stories and the spiritual insights gained along the way. We’ll allow people to interact whilst walking virtually.

We have a small team of experienced and passionate cinematographers, production people, and developers. All have agreed to contribute without getting paid. However, creating such a comprehensive and immersive experience requires substantial resources. We need high-quality cameras ensure a cinematic quality. Filming with two cinema-camera’s and a drone we will produce about 600 hours of raw footage that all needs to be edited. Then we’ll need to add subtitles, languages, and interactions. Once that is ready we will make the full 32 days and 500 miles virtual pilgrimage open for everyone to watch on http://www.virtualcamino.org/
