Veterans Resource Guide

Veterans from all wars have had problems returning to civilian life. In my book "Shaping Our Lives, Transforming Our Communities: Creativity and the Arts in a Changing World." I am sharing the stories of veterans who are using the arts to create a new way to wellness and the organizations helping them. Not enough veterans, families, and health professionals know about this. I believe passionately there is a need for a resource guide for veterans and those who care about them.
The need for curated information on the arts and healing is great, nowhere more so than for those suffering from traumas of various kinds. There is abundant research on the effectiveness of the arts in promoting wellness. Most people, even health professionals, are not aware of it.
For veterans, "Living through Creativity: A Veterans Resource Guide to the Arts and Healing" will fill the current gap.
The guide will be published this summer in its e-book version and in the fall in traditional paperback.
As an artist I am creating a series of collage paintings that will include the work of Veteran Artists. These will be used for the cover and illustrations in book. We will print a limited edition in various sizes of the cover and one other collage to reward those who have supported the development of the guide.
To increase awareness of the role creativity and the arts can play in lives of veterans, we will have a small traveling exhibit of the collages ready for the late fall of 2015.
Good design and effective publishing are essential to spreading the word. The funds raised will cover these development expenses and make this crtical information widely available this year. Every small gift counts and every donor will receive a personal thank-you.
When the e-book is published on Amazon, I will post a financial report showing how the Go Fund Me donations have been used. Transparency and openness are important.
