Tom's Baseball Injury Surgery Fund

Donation protected
Hello Family, Friends, Co-workers and Members of the Baseball Community,

Our son, Tom sustained a serious elbow injury while playing baseball and requires surgery to continue with his athletic career. This procedure is not covered by our Provincial Medical Plan. The estimated cost is between $10, 000-$12,000 and out of necessity we are reaching out to our community for help in raising the funds we need.

Tom, an Earl Marriott Secondary senior, currently has numerous offers to play baseball at the college level both in Canada and the United States, but cannot realize this lifelong dream unless he undergoes this essential surgery. This cutting edge operation is the only medical procedure available that will give him the opportunity to continue with competitive baseball. The surgery is scheduled for June and promises a very quick recovery time which would allow him to be ready for a fall college start!

Tom is very passionate about baseball and has dedicated his entire life to his sport…he was introduced to baseball at 3 years old as a batboy for his big brothers team, he has played since he was 5 years old, has trained year-round since he was 8; Tom has played with White Rock South Surrey Baseball Association for 10 years and has competed with the White Rock Triton’s in British Columbia’s Premier Baseball League, Canada’s foremost non-professional club for the past 3 years.  He has represented his city, district, province and country numerous times in competitive baseball and he achieved a national championship title in 2014!

Tom also gives back his love of sport by volunteering, coaching, instructing and mentoring within the local youth baseball and basketball community. Notwithstanding Tom’s extensive time commitment to baseball and schooling in the French immersion program over the last number of years, he also managed to give back to the community by volunteering hundreds of hours to numerous city-wide recreational and cultural events and received a Future Leaders-Youth Leadership Certificate in recognition of his efforts.

If you are interested and able to help Tom get back in the swing of things, we would greatly appreciate your support.

Thanks!

The Melenchuk Family
