Help an Old Marine/JG Jeff Wilds

My name is Jeff Wilds. I am a 50 yr old former U.S. Marine. I have been employed as a Cook County Deputy Sheriff/Correctional Officer for the past 25 years. I have a wife, Chris, and 3 children (Marissa-17, Donovan-10, Reagan-6). I am asking for your help because I was recently diagnosed with small cell lung cancer.
In 2008 I had bilateral hip replacement surgery. Due to the surgery only correcting half of my hip problem, I was left with severe muscle impediment resulting in extreme pain, requiring me to be off of work much longer than anticipated. My wife, also a Cook County Deputy Sheriff, was off on maternity leave during the same time. She ended up having to take 6 months off with no pay because I was not capable of caring for a newborn.
We ended up accumulating approximately $120K in debt overall that we have been able to reduce to approximately $40K in the last 7 years.
I have now been off with no pay since April 23rd and will not begin receiving disability benefits until some time in late June or July.
I am fearful that in the best case scenario, I will be cured, only for my family to AGAIN be buried in a mountain of debt. However, my BIGGEST fear is that I will lose this battle and leave my loved ones in the abyss of debt and despair.
So, it is with hat in hand that I humbly request your assistance. While my mind still sees obstacles as a 20yr old Marine (i.e. I can do anything!!), my 50yr old body (bilateral hip replacements, moderate to severe arthritis in C1-C7 vertebrae, and now lung cancer) fails to comply with orders!
