Jenn's 2nd Fight against Leukemia

Donation protected

Jenn is the mother of 4 children her oldest is 19 and the youngest being a baby girl who is 21 months old.  Jenn has been active in her recovery from alcoholism for over 4 years, during which she has devoted time not only to her family, but to helping others achieve and maintain sobriety.  She is a woman who is kind and strong, who has a passion for helping people.  Jenn started not feeling well about 6 months prior to the diagnosis last September 2014 of AML Leukemia.  The doctors began an aggressive treatment plan of chemo which kept her in the hospital for most of the following 4 ½ months.  She finally was released from the hospital in January 2015 and a month later got the word that she was in remission.  She was able to go back to work doing what she loved most – helping other alcoholics at a local treatment center.  In March, she got a lung infection that just wouldn’t get better.  Finally in April 2015 she went back to the hospital only to learn that the leukemia was back and back with a vengeance.  Since April 6, 2015 she has been in the oncology center at Cedar Sinai receiving another extremely aggressive treatment of chemo in hopes of getting remission so they can do a bone marrow transplant.  So far the chemo has not been successful.  While everyone is maintaining that since Jenn beat this once, she can do it again, they are preparing for this stay to be much longer.

This has been emotionally traumatic and financially draining experience for Jenn, her boyfriend David, and Dallas (21 months) who has been without her Mommy for the better part of 8 months. The financial burden is overwhelming.  Family and friends have been helping by running errands, cooking, cleaning and helping to share childcare for Dallas, but Dave’s work is limited due to not having consistent childcare and they are struggling to pay rent.  Jenn’s temporary disability is running out in 2 months, Social Services has been providing additional funds for Dallas, but that ends when she turns 2.  The family has exhausted the normal means of assistance for a family in need and now this situation has become dire.

What we, the friends and family of Jenn, Dave and Dallas, are asking is for help – pure and simple.  We are doing our best to keep this family afloat, but it’s just not enough.  The medical bills, living expenses, food, diapers - even the gas needed to drive from Oxnard to LA to visit is more than we can sustain for them.  We are asking the community we live in, anyone who knows this family, really anyone that can help us spread the word of this family’s need and possibly help by donating to this fund.  We firmly believe that there is major power in pray – so even if you can’t give, please please add this family in your prayers.

Dallas loves her daddy!!
