Bring Destroyed For Comfort To WI!
For those of you who don't know, Madison Wisconsin is fairly stagnant in terms of having a "noise scene" and in an effort to change that, I've decided to put together a noise festival involving many projects from far and wide coming together for a glorious night of feedback and fun. I wanted to have at least one project that requires us to come together in order to bring to the fest. That project is the one and only Destroyed For Comfort hailing from Portland Oregon.
They describe themselves as "A big old goddamn mess. Sometimes political. Sometimes funny. Sometimes evil. Sometimes actually pertinent to the band it's named after" and have been featured in many news articles, created comics and they've also even programmed some sweet video games! Fronted and founded by art-school dropout r*23 (Rani Bakr), Destroyed For Comfort utilizes both found sound and real-time synthesis to create stompy, noisy, sample-heavy 8-bit hacker-punk that never sounds quite the same way twice, or ever. Disorienting sonic textures set the tone for songs about mind control, the transhuman drive, and time travel.
The plan is to have them fly from Portland Oregon to Chicago where I will pick them up the day of the fest (August 1st) and drive to Madison where roughly 30 noise projects will be performing for the fest. The return flight is on the 3rd, as the only available flight on the 2nd is too soon after the fest to be a reasonable option (I'm not driving to Chicago on 2 hours of sleep.)

Currently the cost of the ticket is $282 and the remainder of the funds will go towards gas to get to and from Chicago. Obviously the sooner we get the funds the less likely the ticket price is to change. If by chance we get more funds than asked, the remainder will go towards keeping the venue alive, as it is a very DIY space that we need to keep alive for stuff like this to be possible.
