In October 2013, my little sister Kadesha (37 years old) was diagnosed with Scleroderma. Scleroderma is a progressive autoimmune disease.  It can cause hardening of the skin and internal organs causing those organs to no longer function.  Scleroderma also causes extreme weakness and pain.  Although there is no known cure, few have survived with proper treatment.  Kadesha grew up in St. Petersburg, FL and graduated from Northeast High School.  She spent her adult life giving to others and her community as a mother, wife, CNA and Registered Nurse.  Her 2013 diagnosis of Scleroderma came as she was finishing her last year meeting requirements to earn a Registered Nurse degree from Tallahassee Community College. Along with being a full-time mother of three and wife, Kadesha fought through challenges of this disease to not only graduate on time, but to earn the highest GPA in her graduating class.  After earning her degree, Kadesha worked as a Registered Nurse at a hospital in Tallahassee, FL.  She worked as a Registered Nurse until she could no longer stand and provide adequate care for her patients.   As of today, Kadesha is in need of 24 hour care which is provided by local medical providers, hospitals, her 13 year old son and her husband. Instead of living her lifelong dream of working with others as a Registered Nurse, my sister is now confined to a hospital bed where her daily supply of food is provided through a feeding tube. My little sister has express a will to live, but the family has limited resources to see that vision through.  The most recent goal is to transfer her to Shands Hospital and possibly explore experimental treatments that have helped others in her situation.  Unfortunately, the desired treatments are not covered by insurance.  The funds collected through this site will help to make that happen for Kadesha.  My little sister is 37 years old and has expressed a will to live, but the family needs yours assistance to make her vision a reality!
