The Helen VanHouten Fund

Donation protected
My name is Melinda Kieffer and I am raising money for my mother-in-law, Helen VanHouten.  On May 15, 2015 a typical evening weather storm blew through the area generating winds between 30-40mph.   She had a very large grand oak tree on her mobile home property that was rotting loose an approximately 3 ft. branch break away and crash through her home.  Had it not been for the crack above and her movement from the noise, we believe she would not be here with us today.  She jumped, and the branch crashed through her home only about 2 ft from where she was sitting.   God was most definately looking out for her that evening as she left without injury from that scene.

Her home was condemned on the spot, and she is now residing with her daughter and son-in-law.  Helen is "fiercely independent" and the entire situation has been a big blow to her.   She is considered couch homeless at this point, and that has been difficult for her to accept.

Helen's health was only fair as she has suffered for several years with severe rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other medical conditions.   A few years back she had to have her hip and shoulder replaced due to a fall and now walks with the aid of a walker or cane.   To top all that off, about a month ago, she was diagnosed with lung cancer in both sides of her lungs.   Hopefully, she will start treatment very soon for that as well.

Each donation and each individual comment gives her hope, especially from strangers.   Donations and prayers from total strangers is slowly renewing her faith - in people, the world, and most importantly in herself so she can beat this cancer.    Help us keep giving Helen the hope she needs to survive all of this by getting her into her own home where she can have her privacy and dignity to beat the cancer.

As someone said today, God has plans for her yet.   Help her to see what they are.  Even $1 helps her get closer to having her own life again.

Thank you for your help.   That goes without saying.   But most importantly, thank you for giving her the hope to live!

Love and blessings to you all....
