Many of you may know know Joseph Garcia. He may be your friend, your coach, a guy You lift with, your family or just some crazy guy dancing around on your social media!
Regardless of how you may know Joseph chances are you’ve been following his journey through the sport of weightlifting ....
Joseph has made such a positive impact on so many and now it’s our opportunity to give back.
Starting with his wrestling career at Miami High; “Jojo”as many of us know him, has been an athlete destined for success from Day 1.
After high school he found CrossFit where his athletic background and ability showed early on.
Soon after his entry into the crossfit world he realized his true passion; Olympic Weightlifting after he was introduced to a well known coach, Pablo Roman....and here we are today!
Jojo has spent the last few years training for countless hours in the gym working with his coach.
With his commitment outside the gym , including diet, recovery and overall discipline Jojo was able to climb the ladder in the US weightlifting community. He has placed in multiple national level meets to date.
Most recently Jojo qualified and took 2nd overall for the USA at USAW University Nationals in Ogden UTAH on April 20th 2018.
It was a huge honor that Jojo earned with a Notable performance In both Clean and Jerk and Snatch with a 210kg (462LB for Both lifts) total in the 56kg (123LB) Weight class. At 56kg his Sinclair was a cool 324.58!
Jojo managed this achievement with the support of his coach, team, gym, family and friends...all while managing to juggle college, coaching at his local gym, CrossFit Muscle farm downtown miami , training, dieting and somehow squeezing in family and social obligations; no easy feat!
On April 24th only a few short days after the conclusion of University Nationals Jojo received news that would change his life forever.
Jojo was invited as the sole representitive for Team USA in the 56kg Weightclass to compete at the International Unversity Weightlifting Championships this August in Poland!!!!! All he had to do was get there!
Can you say WOW! This is an honor most of us can only dream of! A level of competition most of us will never see.
So what comes next in this weightlifting fairytale?
...YOU! This is where you come in to help and show your support to help send Jojo across the pond to Poland to compete representing our great nation TEAM USA baby!
Every dollar counts and will help Jojo pay for his flights to and from Poland, hotel and accommodations, food and necessary travel and expenses for this great journey and honor.
We need YOUR help to send this college lifter onto the platform in August in Poland!
