UNFIX Festival of Performance and Ecology

10th - 12th July 2015 @ CCA Glasgow

www.unfixfestival.com

UNFIX is a brand new festival of live performance, dance, film, installation, workshop and debate that wants to unravel the knots in how we're living. Ecological crisis and renewal addressed through our bodies and physical sense of living.

UNFIX is conceived as an act of love, a bear hug to the world, a prayer of sorts. As humans we don’t have to ‘work hard’ and ‘earn a living’; we already have one by virtue of being alive. The question is how to engage with it. We believe performance, art, discussion, food and ritual can help us ask with courage.

Why have a festival of Performance and Ecology?

UNFIX aims to create the first Scottish festival of its kind. Ecology is perhaps the grand theme of our times, uniting issues of climate change, sustainability, political independence / inter- dependence, and the various flows of ageing and death, economics, culture and emotion. Rather than restricting itself to ‘environmental art’, we’re taking a broad definition of the term and including ecologies of:

• Imagination and Culture (the ideas, myths, dreams and archetypes we live by)
• Politics & Economics
• Environment
• Soul & Mental Health: the individual & collective psyche and questions of balance, physical maintenance and happiness; ecologies of emotion and the forces of love, conflict, anger, shame.

UNFIX conceives individual human lives as a microcosm of the whole, and puts it to you: climate change and ecological transformation are happening inside your body, RIGHT NOW.

What we would like from you...

UNFIX festival received no funding from Creative Scotland but as an act of determination and conviction in the values of the work and the festival the artists involved have decided to make it happen anyway along with some in kind support from the CCA.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated, as the artists and organisers have put in countless hours already in order to get the festival up and running in July. Donations would go towards the following:

- existing travel expenses for the artists involved in the project

- unpaid artistic and admin work for UNFIX 15

- the hiring of equipment for the festival, such as lighting, audio, audio-visual equipment and technical support.

- help with current costs of UNFIX 15 as well as going towards future planning forScotland's ArtCOP event in December 2015 and UNFIX 16.

What you will receive...

Any and all contributions are deeply and gratefully appreciated by all involved.

Any person donating to us will be invited to a shared meal on Thursday evening provided by the artists and organisers of the festival. This feels important to us as a way to share food discussion with you about the art shown and provide sustinance for those who have provided us with the very same thing.

We ask with an open and generous heart and whether you choose to donate or not we really look forward to welcoming you to this new and vital community driven festival.
