2015-16 school and b-fast in Haiti

Barry and Judy Williams, leaders of humanitarian outreach for Global Adoption Services, a Hague accredited agency, (www.adoptglobal.org), visited Haiti in 2013 and 2014 on a mission trip to help rebuild a church destroyed in the earthquake in 2010.  Richard, the translator that worked with Barry and Judy, runs the Shelter of Hope Mission , a registered charity in Haiti, and was looking for a way to help many of the children who show up at the mission house because it's a safe place to play and hang out.  Many of these children are essentially homeless or with family that cannot provide for them and are in danger of becoming a "Restavek" child, which is the equivalent of being sold into slavery.

From those trips, a Humanitarian Outreach Program was created to help these children attend school.  In 2014/2015 we found sponsors for 21 children to attend school.  This summer one of the children was hospitalized due to malnutrition so, with the help of money from a generous donor, we set up a breakfast program to feed the children 5 days/week, which was all we could afford.

As the 2015/2016 school year begins we are out of money for breakfast and three of the children have lost their sponsors.  We are desperately seeking donations to keep these children in school and feed them at least one meal a day.  In Haiti, the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, has a high school education rate of about 2%.   Without an education the chances of staying out of slavery or rising out of poverty is 0%.  Please help us.  $5 will feed a child for 2 weeks.  The price of a decent dinner out in the US will feed and educate a child for a month ($40).  No donation is too small.  Thank you.
